The 12-month wait is over! That’s right, it’s that time of year again where the excitement reaches a fever pitch at Cheltenham Racecourse as the tapes go up once more for one of the UK’s greatest weeks of sport.
Fans of racing, friends and family will flock in their thousands to Prestbury Park this March as they relish a spectacular opening day at the annual Cheltenham Festival.
The spine-tingling roar that reverberates around the track is truly one to be revered as jockeys astride magnificent beasts hurtle towards the finish line in a bid to take home the most lucrative spoils.
The punting week will either be one of enjoyment or despair – but irrespective of the results, visitors are guaranteed a racing experience unrivalled by most.
Champion Day (Tuesday 13th March) is undoubtedly one of the weeks’ finest spectacles as racegoers from far and wide rub shoulders in a wonderfully intimate racing environment.
On a day where champions are made, Buveur D’Air guns for back-to-back successes in the day’s feature race, the Unibet Champion Hurdle.
The Nicky Henderson-trained Gelding would certainly be joining some esteemed company if successful, with See You Then, Istabraq and Hatton’s Grace to name a few, having already achieved the impressive feat.
And with Buveur D’Air’s win last year making Henderson the most successful trainer in the race’s history, it is easy to see why he returns a hot favourite.
