It was a season to savour last term, with Antonio Conte’s flamboyant Chelsea side soaring to an incredible title victory – the sixth in their remarkable history. It was the Italian manager’s first taste of Premier League football and he certainly made his mark in style, dazzling fans and players alike with his masterfully planned tactics and spectacular touchline antics. He awakened the dormant champions from their silent slumber, instilling in them his innovative ideologies and hard-nosed discipline and the hard work paid incredible dividends as the Blues romped to the victory – much to the dismay of the Spurs faithful.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side will undoubtedly be licking their wounds after last season’s bitter disappointment. Spurs had been utterly relentless in their pursuit of Conte’s seemingly unstoppable Chelsea side, and had looked genuine title contenders for the majority of the campaign. Harry Kane’s sublime goal return and Dele Alli’s tantalising trickery had made the challengers look like the side to beat throughout the year but they fell short at the eleventh hour, with a crippling defeat at West Ham inadvertently paving the way for their bitter London rivals to triumph. But Spurs fans will be buoyed by the fact that their side have finally asserted their dominance as one of the Premier League’s elite performers and with one or two notable additions, they could be an overwhelming force to contend with in future.

It was a superb season to remember for Liverpool fans, as Jurgen Klopp’s resilient Reds signalled a long-awaited return to the European elite, snatching fourth place at the death from the desperate clutches of rivals, Arsenal. Their initial nerves turned to elation on the final day of the campaign when they dispatched a stunned Middlesbrough side in scintillating style to regain a deserved place in the Champions League, sending the jubilant home faithful into a state of euphoria.  The Merseyside club will be keen to challenge for the title this year – having finally cracked the top four – and with the likes of Mohammed Salah already joining the ranks this year, Reds fans will have much to be excited about.

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United undoubtedly have much to prove this year in the Premier League. Having triumphed emphatically in the Europa League and League Cup, The Red Devils will now be seeking to revitalise their domestic form as they look to mount a formidable title challenge to surpass their rivals. United have already enhanced their growing title credentials with some steller summer signings, notably the towering Belgian, Romelu Lukaku, whose remarkable goal return recently secured him an astronomical £75 million move to the Premier League giants. Football fanatics will be hoping to see more exciting transfer activity unfold at Old Trafford before the summer window slams shut.

In preparation for what promises to be yet another scintillating season of football, we’ve taken a look at what’s to come from these four Premier League gladiators, including prospective transfers and predicted league finishes.

Chelsea’s Search for a New Target Man Continues

Antonio Conte will certainly be looking to add to his incredible arsenal before the new season kicks off. Having already told Diego Costa that he is surplus to requirements this year, the animated Italian will be in search of a new talisman to lead the line, with Alvaro Morata’s name being touted as a potential suitor. The prolific Real Madrid front man would represent a fine acquisition for the Blues, but an apparent £80 million price tag could become a difficult obstacle to negotiate.

Chelsea are also keen to add some defensive mettle to their ranks, with AS Monoca’s Tiemoue Bakayogo flaunted as the ideal partner for the ubiquitous N’golo Kante. The French International enjoyed an outstanding season with the reigning Ligue 1 Champions, producing consistent match-winning performances throughout the year and Chelsea will be hoping that the 22 year old can replicate his splendid form in the Premier League.

Potential and Completed Transfers:

IN: Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayogo

OUT: Nemanja Matic, John Terry, Nathaniel Chalabah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek

FINISH: 1st

Is Barkley the Man for Spurs?

Everton’s midfield Maestro, Ross Barkley, has garnered substantial interest from Mauricio Pochettino recently and the Argentine is keen to add the Liverpool-born playmaker to his glittering ranks. Barkley’s wonderful agility, vision and long-range shooting capabilities could possibly add a new, exciting dimension to Spur’s attacking options. With Barkley still yet to commit his long-term future to The Toffees, it has fuelled speculation that he may be unsettled at Goodison Park; but is the £50 million price tag going to present an unmovable stumbling block?

Potential and Completed Transfers:

IN: Ross Barkley

OUT: Kyle Walker

FINISH: 3rd

Liverpool Look to Attract Stars with Champions League Football

Having already bolstered their ranks with the lightening-fast Mohammed Salah from AS Roma for £34 million, Liverpool are certainly looking to build on last season’s success, and a promise of Champions League football will be sure to provide an enticing incentive for prospective suitors. The Reds are currently in hot pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita, who was initially labelled as ‘off limits’ by the German club’s senior officials, but Liverpool’s recent £57 million record bid may test their resolve. The Guinean International played an integral role in Leipzig’s remarkable rise to prominence in the Bundesliga, with the gifted box-to-box midfielder reliably producing stand-out performances to propel the side to their highest ever league finish.

Liverpool are also reportedly in negotiations over Southampton captain, Virgil Van Dijk, in spite of the Reds’ alleged misconduct when they pursued the Dutchman previously. The towering centre half would, without question, add some imperative quality to Jurgen Klopp’s back line and would give Reds fans a strong sense of optimism ahead of their bid for domestic and European success.

Potential and Completed Transfers:

IN: Mohammed Salah, Naby Keita, Virgil Van Dijk

OUT: Daniel Sturridge, Lucas Leiva, Joe Gomes

FINISH: 4th

Manchester United Looking to Add to their Generous Collection

Having welcomed the commanding Romelu Lukaku to his ranks in an astonishing £75 million deal – as well as Benfica defender, Victor Lindelof – Jose Mourinho will be relatively satisfied with his side’s recent transfer business. The vibrant Portuguese manager is by no means finished, however, as he looks to snatch Ivan Perisic from the clutches of his previous employers, Inter Milan.  The devastating Croatian winger has been a long-term target for Mourinho but United are still yet to meet the gargantuan £44 million asking price.

Nemanja Matic is also one on the radar; the tough-tackling Serbian International has fallen out of favour with Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, and could provide the Manchester club with a wonderful defensive option.

Potential and Completed Transfers:

IN: Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof, Ivan Perisic, Nemanja Matic

OUT: Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling, Ibrahimovic

FINISH: 2nd
