Henley Royal Regatta Boaters Enclosure

Crowning Henley Royal Regatta: The Boat Race like no other

Henley Royal Regatta is a trademark event synonymous with the English social season.  Not only a competitive rowing event with unrivalled tradition and a stamp of notoriety on the calendar for top rowers around the world, but also a seasonal affair for the garish, the whimsical, and the well-heeled to clink champagne flutes in fashion’s latest summer dress.

Held in Henley since 1839, this Royal Regatta attracts spectators from every corner of the globe. With an attendance of approximately 300,000 spectators a year, the banks of the Thames hold the bubbling atmosphere of a stadium, simply incomparable to any other rowing event of its kind.

A traditional feature that separates Henley from the rest is that it permits school, college and university students the chance to row and race against the champions in their sport. The Regatta typically features over 200 races and welcomes more than 500 crews to display their sporting talents on the River Thames.

This year, Henley Royal Regatta has officially named three new women’s events which had been previously introduced at the event in 2017. The Women’s fours will be named ‘The Town Challenge Cup‘; the pairs will be named ‘The Hambleden Pairs Challenge Cup‘; whilst the women’s double sculls will now be entitled ‘The Stonor Challenge Trophy’. The outstanding female rowers will no doubt provide a breathtaking spectacle of sporting prowess to win these newly named trophies.
