The 26th Annual Midlands Sportsman’s Luncheon has been hailed as one of the best yet. Raising funds on behalf of the Wooden Spoon, top table guests included Sky Sports presenter Gary Newbon, former England and British & Irish Lions Internationals Tim Stimpson (Master of Ceremonies) and Simon Shaw (Guest of Honour), Phil Pemble Chairman of The Wooden Spoon West Midlands Region and Jed Stone a Premier League comedian (congratulations Jed on winning the best turned out award).
An excellent four course lunch was provided by the Mcdonald Burlington Hotel with excellent service as part of a real Festive occasion.
Menu – Pork and Smoked Bacon Terrine. Sirloin of finest Scottish Beef – Yorkshire pudding, Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables. Sticky Toffee Pudding – Toffee Sauce, Ice Cream and Cheeseboard.
A Cheque was presented to Phil by Denise Sheasby, Managing Director of Eventmasters, for a total of £4700.00 as part of fundraising activities from earlier in the year.
Tim and Simon were in excellent form and gave a real insight into their playing careers, including interesting views on the selection policies of Sir Clive Woodward prior to naming his 2003 World Cup winning squad.
The event was yet again a complete sell-out and continues to be one of the most popular rugby luncheons staged, the 2016 date is set for Thursday 15th December, the guest of honour details will be announced soon.
Eventmasters would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
