West Indies v England 2nd Test - 4th Day Overview

Cricket: West Indies v England, 2nd Test, Overview

England head into the 4th day of the 2nd Test Match against the West Indies hoping that they can seize the initiative. Sitting on 373-6, they are 74 ahead, and will look to push the lead on to 200 plus. Central to England’s innings was a superb century from Joe Root; a player who is looking more and more at home in the Test arena – his performances are helping to shift England cricket tickets all over.

It was also good to see both Captain Cook and the returning Jonathan Trott hitting half centuries. Both men had looked short of form in the first test, but this innings could be the kick start that they needed. Their partnership was the first century stand for the first wicket since Cook and Nick Compton in Dunedin, 2013. We are bound to see more of this over the English summer at Trent Bridge, Headingley and the Kia Oval amongst other English grounds. That will be before Jos Buttler begins his fireworks all over the country!

The attention will again turn to England’s bowling attack, with James Anderson now the record Test wicket taker, the shackles will now be off. Stuart Broad picked up a handy 4fer in the first innings and will be hoping to repeat the trick. Chris Jordan and Ben Stokes have both looked fiery and sharp with the ball, while Moeen Ali looked to be finding his flight and radar again towards the end of the West Indies innings.

The most important thing about the series so far, is that everybody has made a contribution, proving that nobody is out of place at this level. There will be no better way to watch this again improving English side than with a Cricket Corporate Hospitality Package.
