West Indies v England - Jonathan Trott

Cricket: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Preview

After a comfortable win for England in the 2nd Test in Grenada, they now head to Barbados confident of sealing a series victory. Cricket tickets and corporate hospitality packages will become all the more popular this summer with a successful England team, and many of the components of recent English success seem to be finding their way back into working order. Cook, Ballance, Root and Bell have all contributed positively to the tour so far, while Anderson and Broad are back in the wickets.

The main talking points leading up to the 3rd and final match are; the form of Jonathan Trott and a potential injury to Ben Stokes. While it was clearly good news for cricket fans to see the Warwickshire batsman return to the fold, he has so far scored his runs in the unfamiliar opening role at less than 16 per innings. A scratchy half century aside, he has hardly nailed down his place for what promises to be a gruelling summer. After an impressive summer playing for the Headingley club, opener Adam Lyth may feel slightly hard done by not to have had his chance – but now it may come, even if by default. If Stokes isn’t fit, it is possible that Lyth will come in to open, allowing Trott to move back to his more natural position in the middle order.

The other option may be to blood Yorkshire’s spinning all rounder Adil Rashid. A competent batsman and tricky leg spinner, Rashid could provide the variation that England need to really trouble the best batting line ups and the lower order runs to boost their own totals. As many supporters from the KIA Oval to Headingley will tell you, Rashid can bowl the kind of deliveries to tear the heart out of even the best sides – even if he can be expensive.
