Jurgen Klopp’s side enter this match full of confidence after a comprehensive 4-1 win over Manchester City followed by a 2-1 over Bordeaux in the Europa League. Liverpool hospitality guests will be confident of another three points on Sunday.
Klopp will be without Daniel Sturridge who missed his midweek comeback with a foot injury, while the magical Philippe Coutinho could return from a hamstring problem. Midfielder Lucas will also be missing through suspension.
There are clear signs that Klopp’s philosophy has changed the dynamics of the side. The high-pressing and swift attacking has already brought fantastic results, another victory should be on the cards against a side struggling for form.
Tottenham Hotspur continue their outstanding run of form and are now unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League and face Chelsea in a massive London derby. Mauricio Pochettino’s side qualified for the knock-out stages of the Europa League after a 1-0 win over FC Qarabag.
Midfielder Dele Alli is serving a one match ban, but Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose are set to return after being rested on Thursday. Striker Harry Kane is now in a rich vein of form and stopping him in front of goal will be the main priority for Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho’s men seemed to have turned a corner after a slow start to the season and could be set to make a charge towards the top four. The Blues will be without skipper John Terry who picked up an ankle injury in the 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv.
This promises to be one of the games of the season as two high quality sides clash at a crucial point in the season. Can Spurs enhance their top four credentials? Or will Chelsea show the form that made them champions last season?
Leicester City v Manchester United
It’s first versus second as high-flying Leicester City play Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United on Saturday.
Jamie Vardy could make Premier League history if he scores for the 11th consecutive Premier League game. The striker began his sequence three months ago with a goal against Bournemouth and is now on the verge of entering the record books.
Manchester United’s Phil Jones and Ander Herrera, who went off with ankle and hamstring injuries respectively last weekend, remain sidelined. But Wayne Rooney and Antony Martial will both be back after missing the win over Watford.
The Dutch manager is not worried about his side’s lack of goals in recent weeks, “If we weren’t creating chances I’d be worried, but we are and we don’t give too much away – normally our results are good. That is why we are second in the league and in our Champions League group.”
