Defending Birmingham Classic champion Ana Ivanovic will be looking to be looking to reach her second French Open final when she takes on Lucie Safarova this afternoon. Ivanovic will be one of many world stars who will be entertaining Eventmasters Birmingham Classic hospitality guests – June 15-21st.
Seventh seed Ivanovic won her only major event at Roland Garros in 2008, and made it to the semis after a comfortable 6-3 6-2 victory over Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina. Ivanovic has enjoyed a revival over the past couple of seasons and looks to be back to her best ahead of the Aegon Classic Birmingham. Should Ivanovic go onto win the title the prospect of having a Grand Slam champion on display would be an exciting one for Eventmaters tennis hospitality guests.
The Aegon Classic Birmingham will form an integral part of the new British Grass Court season which will run in the three weeks between Roland Garros and The Championships, Wimbledon. The extended grass court season will enable some of the world’s elite players extra time to find their feet on grass and make the most of the very best grass-courts in the country.
The WTA event has attracted ten of the top 20 players in the world, with Simona Halep and former Grand Slam winners Victoria Azarenka and Svetlana Kuznetsova confirmed for the Edgbaston Priory Club.
