Trent Bridge Hospitality Packages -England beat New Zealand in thriller

England produced a stunning display to beat New Zealand in the fourth Royal London One-Day International at Trent Bridge. It was England’s highest ever run chase in an ODI and they reached the target of 350 with 6 overs to spare, it was a truly historic occasion for all enjoying Trent Bridge hospitality packages.

Kiwi batsman Kane Williamson produced another crucial innings for his side scoring 90 runs, while Mitchell Santner hit Yorkshires Adil Rashid for 28 in one over, as New Zealand scored 349 runs. Once again England showed great positivity with the bat and on his home ground Nottinghamshire star Alex Hales took the game to the Black Caps. Scoring 67 of just 38 balls, his 11 boundaries including four sixes gave the hosts the perfect start to the game.

Joe Root and Eoin Morgan then produced a magnificent partnership of 198 to take the game away from Brendan McCullum’s side. Skipper Morgan has been in outstanding form all series and his 113 including 17 boundaries. His aggressive style of play was met with raucous cheers from the brilliant Trent Bridge crowd and certainly entertained the guests enjoying the Trent Bridge hospitality packages.

Root’s 103 not out was another reminder of his wonderful talent, hitting some lovely straight drives and working the ball round the field. The free-scoring partnership between the pair, England’s highest in an ODI against New Zealand, ended when Morgan hooked Tim Southee to long leg. But Root completed the match win another majestic stroke to the boundary as England levelled the series ahead of the final match at the Durham Emirates ICG. In keeping with the rest of the series England shattered yet more records in the fourth ODI these include:

  • England’s highest aggregate number of runs scored in a five-match series was 1,399. They already have 1,425 with a game to spare
  • England passed 300 for the fourth successive ODI. They had not done it before in more than two games in a row
  • The run chase at Trent Bridge was the joint-fourth highest in the history of cricket
