The record breaking Royal London One-Day International series between England and New Zealand heads for Trent Bridge for the fourth match, with the tourists leading the series 2-1. Eventmasters are delighted to offer official Trent Bridge hospitality packages for this superb contest.
The series got off to a fantastic start with England posting their record ODI score on their way to a 210 run thrashing of the Black Caps at Edgbaston. The second match at the KIA Oval was affected by the rain but that didn’t stop the two sides producing more breath-taking cricket.
The match produced the highest number of runs ever seen in an ODI on English soil with a total of 763. Records tumbled all over the place as New Zealand hit 53 boundaries the most ever scored in an ODI in England. In addition their score of 398-5 was the highest ODI total at the Oval and highest against England. Nottinghamshire star Alex Hales hit 54 runs to open the innings before a fantastic 88 by skipper Eoin Morgan. Yorkshire’s Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett then produced a fabulous partnership of 76 for the eighth wicket, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for the win. With the series level at 1-1 the sides headed for Hampshire’s Ageas Bowl.
Two brilliant centuries from Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor guided the Kiwi’s to a three wicket victory. Williamson hit 118 while Taylor hit 110 in a 206 run partnership. Once again Morgan produced a great knock with a 71, along with Joe Root’s 54 and quick-fire 68 from Ben Stokes set New Zealand a target of 302. After losing two wickets early on New Zealand never really looked in danger after the Williamson/Taylor stand and they won the match with one over to spare.
The bandwagon now moves onto Trent Bridge for another electrifying encounter. England will be desperate to level the series and take it to a decided fifth match, while the World Cup finalists will want to wrap up the series.
