Twickenham Hospitality – England Players to Watch: Kyle Eastmond

Twickenham Hospitality Packages: As Eddie Jones begins his first day as England Rugby Head Coach, we continue our series of blogs on players who could make a big impact in England’s Six Nations campaign. Eventmasters will once again be providing the very best Six Nations Twickenham hospitality packages as England take on Ireland (Saturday 27th February) and Wales (Saturday 12th March).

These are two huge encounters with massive significance as England look to avenge recent defeats to both sides. The loss in Dublin in the 2015 Six Nations cost England a Grand Slam and their first title since 2011. While we all know what happened at the recent World Cup as Wales beat England at Twickenham. England will be looking for two big performances. Twickenham hospitality guests are in for a feast of international rugby.

In today’s blog we look at one of the most talented and explosive centres in England, Bath star Kyle Eastmond. Midfield is an incredibly competitive position with the likes of Henry Slade, Jonathan Joseph, Elliot Daly and Luther Burrell all vying for a place. But the former Rugby League man must not be overlooked by Jones.

After a successful four years with Saint Helens in Super League, Eastmond made the move to Bath, bringing with him bags of potential. After starting on the wing, he quickly earned a spot in the centres and has become one of the side’s most important players.

In the modern game of physical, powerful players the 26-year-old is just 5’7” and weighs just 12st13lbs. But as he has shown over a number of seasons, his size is actually one of his most potent weapons.

With a low centre of gravity his able to make rapid changes of direction and leave defenders flat footed. A prime example was his try on his England debut against Argentina, in the blink of an eye the elusive Eastmond burst past four players before leaving the full-back for dead to score under the posts.

His background as a half back in Rugby League also means he is one of the best midfield distributors in Europe. His link play with George Ford and Jonathan Joseph has made Bath one of the Premierships most exciting sides and the calls for the trio to play for England have been strong for some time. An exciting prospect for Twickenham hospitality guests.

Frustratingly for Eastmond his career for England has never got going, despite impressive performances. On the 2014 tour of New Zealand the centre produced a magical display alongside Manu Tuilagi before being dropped for the next game. He returned in the QBE Internationals and once again showed his class against the world’s best side but was then discarded once again.

After a blistering start to the domestic season Eastmond has to be considered for Eddie Jones’s first squad. Anybody who watches the Aviva Premiership knows his talent and what he could bring to the England set-up.
