Great Britain are through to the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup; British No 2 James Ward yet again proved to be the hero coming from 2 sets down to shock American John Isner with a 15 – 13 victory in the thrilling fifth and final set. GB upset the odds for the 2nd consecutive year against the USA, with Andy Murray winning each of his singles rubbers to seal a memorable 3 – 2 win.
Great Britain will now host France in July in an attempt to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 1981.
The Davis Cup hero has also confirmed that he will play in the ATP Aegon Nottingham Open, which starts on June 20th therefore giving him the opportunity to gain crucial grass court experience ahead of the Wimbledon Championships.
Ward said: “I am really looking forward to returning to Nottingham this year. It is a great venue with fantastic grass courts that I know well.”
