What to Expect at Chester May Festival
We will sadly have to wait until 2021 to experience the fantastic Chester May Festival 2021. As with most spring/summer events, Chester May Festival 2020 had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. If you are thinking of attending next years’ festival but aren’t sure what to expect, let’s take a look at the highlights from the last festival.
2019’s Chester May Festival was a fantastic opening to the flat racing season! Thousands of guests travelled far and wide to Chester Racecourse for the highly anticipated festival. Chester is always a sell out event and certainly did not disappoint. Even in the face of the rain, it was a “brolly” good show!
The level of action was sensational, with unpredictable performances like that of Sir Dragonet on the City Day, who despite the 13/2 odds stacked against him, claimed victory in The MBNA Chester Vase. Or Morando in the Boodles Diamond Ormode Stakes, who set pace and produced a double win for jockey Silvestre De Sousa with an impressive eight length win on favourite Kew Gardens.
The festival began as it meant to end, with spectacular racing across all three days. In the Chester Cup race, Making Miracles lived up to his name with a miraculous six length win on the challenging rain-saturated racecourse. He too delivered win number two for trainer Mark Johnston and jockey legend Franny Norton, who showcased mastery and flair in both races.
Off track and particularly on Ladies Day, it was all about style and flair. Ladies and gents were serving the latest and most glamorous looks on the Thursday – what better excuse to getting dressed up? The Best Dressed Competition is one of the main events of the day and fashion statements were made by all racegoers eager to impress.
The trend for 2019 seemed to be pastel colours and floral prints. What do you think next the trend will be for Chester May Festival 2021?
The meeting also saw a number of celebrity head turning appearances as the likes of Georgia Toffolo, Sir Alex Ferguson and Bernardo Silva. Georgia, being a newly appointed Ambassador for Great British Racing and a fashion influencer, took to social media to report on the savvy fashion scene at Chester.
Without a doubt, Chester Racecourse always offers an unrivalled experience but 2019 was a spectacular year and what better way to experience the racing atmosphere than with a hospitality package? Having opened a brand new and luxurious hospitality venue, it’s fair to say that the fine dining at Chester has to be one of the greatest in the horse racing industry. You certainly wouldn’t want to miss out in 2021.
Our VIP hospitality packages and tickets ensure that you and your guests enjoy a top-class racing experience. We have a range of packages on offer for the Chester May Festival, tailored to suit the needs of you and your clients. Chester May Festival 2019 was a standout year but 2021 is set to be more impressive. Don’t miss out on a truly unique experience.
