York Ebor Hospitality: Mistrusting takes Eventmasters sponsored race

Mistrusting gave the Godolphin team a double on the card as she won the Eventmasters 30 Years Of Hospitality Expertise EBF Stallions Stakes. The win capped of a fantastic day of York Ebor hospitality for Eventmasters guests.

A superb day of action was started by hot favourite Tasleet winning the opening race for William Haggas. The trainer completed a quick fire double winning the Group 2 Pinsent Masons Lowther Stakes with rising star Besharah who produced a stunning display under jockey Pat Cosgrave.

The feature race of the day was the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks. The race saw some of the top fillies from the UK compete for the prestigious prize. The race was run at a good pace throughout and entering the long York home straight Irish Oaks winner Covert Love hit the front, but Jim Bolger’s Irish 1000 Guineas winner Pleascach loomed large and the two classic winners battled out a thrilling finish.

In the final half furlong Covert Love still held the advantage but the challengers lined up. Pleascach was showing her staying power and powered past the favourite to take the race, Hugo Palmer’s mount held onto second, while French raider Sea Calisi stole third from Royal Ascot winner Curvy.

The final race of the day saw plenty of improving fillies line up for the Eventmasters 30 Years Of Hospitality Expertise EBF Stallions Stakes. Godolphin’s Mistrusting started the race as 5/2 favourite and had plenty of market support behind her with jockey William Buick in the saddle. The race was won by Bragging in 2014 and she went onto win a Group 2 and Mistrusting could be in that mould.

Godolphin’s second runner Risen Sun set a strong early pace, with stablemate Mistrusting tacking the leader in a good position. With two furlongs to go the favourite started to make headway and led the race from a furlong out. In behind others began to make progress off the pace, Richard Fahey’s Dusky Queen looked the main threat along with Secret Hint. But Charlie Appleby’s filly showed great heart and held off her rivals to take the prize.
