The Newmarket Racecourse is a venue at which the annual and highly prestigious Cambridgeshire Meeting is set to take place once more. The racecourse is one of the most historic and world-renowned in the world, which was founded all the way back in 1636, which was where King Charles II became the first and so far currently only reigning monarch to ride a winner when he won the inaugural Newmarket Town Plate back in 1665, which is still going today.
As for the Cambridgeshire Meeting itself, it was founded almost 200 years ago. Fast forward to 2025, the latest winner of the highlight of the meeting, the Cambridgeshire Handicap, was Boiling Point, who was ridden to victory by Jockey Clifford Lee on board a Karl Burke-trained horse. Lee and Burke both won in 2024, the year before, with Liberty Lane.
In the latest iteration of this race, Clifford Lee and Boiling Point were able to fend off some stern competition from the likes of Jack Mitchell’s Indalo, trained by Roger Varian, and Oisin Murphy’s Fort George, trained by Ed Walker. They came in second and third, respectively, in this race.
