GRAND NATIONAL RUNNERS: SEEYOUATMIDNIGHT EYEING FURTHER NATIONAL PREP

Time is of the essence for connections of Seeyouatmidnight. He is seeking some much-needed preparation ahead of the Grand National at Aintree.

Trainer Sandy Thomson is hopeful that the Premier Chase at Kelso will be rescheduled. This stood to be a vital pre-meeting warm-up for the 10-year-old as he plots a route to the Grand National final.
The Bay Gelding Seeyouatmidnight has not been seen since finishing second to Big River in a handicap hurdle in 2017. Thomson is desperate to get a run in at Aintree and doesn’t want to wait much longer.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) stated its intent on restaging the Kelso raceday. Thomson is eager to enter the running if a racecard is confirmed. The event was previously cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

Seeyouatmidnight is in great form at home and I’m looking forward to running him,” Thomson said. “It’s a shame that the bad weather has arrived as the race at Kelso fitted nicely into the programme. I have spoken to the BHA and there is a possibility that the meeting will be rescheduled for next Thursday.”

It could potentially be make or break time for the Thomson and co, as they wait with bated breath for the BHA’s decision. Seeyouatmidnight must be registered to run in a chase prior to Monday 9th April. Otherwise he will ultimately fail to qualify for the Grand National race.

Thomson suggests that the upcoming Cheltenham Festival is another avenue they can take. “He’s entered in the G3 Ultima Handicap Chase so we could possibly go for that race. Looking at the entries, it looks like a good renewal and he would get in off 11st 3lb.

“He has won at that track before, but if we don’t go there, we could head to Carlisle later on this month for a veterans chase to ensure we make the April deadline.”
