Scotland v Ireland Hospitality Packages – Guinness Six Nations 2025
The famous Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh is set to host Scotland’s 2025 Guinness Six Nations game against reigning Champions Ireland on Sunday 9th February 2025. The contest, which promises to be enthralling and tense, gets underway at 15:00 in the afternoon.
After the dismissal of Vern Cotter, who had been in charge since 2014, current Head Coach Gregor Townsend was appointed all the way back in May 2017. He has now been in the Scotland hotseat for over half a decade.
Whilst they have not yet had the honour of lifting the Six Nations Championship title, Scotland have won the Five Nations a total of 5 times (1925, 1929, 1984, 1990, 1999). They have also shared the title on a further 6 occasions (1920, 1926, 1927, 1964, 1973 and 1986). Townsend’s side face a nation who have become no strangers to winning the Six Nations.
Ireland are the current holders of this Championship, having won in 2024 with no less than 20 points from their 5 matches. This was also their second consecutive title, having won the year before in 2023 with a total of 27 points. These are just 2 of their 6 titles in total, with the other 4 being won in 2009, 2014, 2015 and 2018.
As of the time of writing, both Scotland and Ireland are currently in the top ten highest ranked nations in the world of international rugby. Starting with Scotland, they have 79.81 points, which sees them ranked at 8th place compared to Ireland, whose second successive Six Nations triumph seeing them keep their spot in second with 90.69 points. Only South Africa are above them on 94.54 points overall.
The most recent encounter between these two nations took place at the most recent Six Nations Championship on Sunday 12th March 2024 at the iconic Murrayfield. It was a game that was won by a margin of 7 – 22 by the visiting Ireland, who had scored tries through Mack Hansen (27’) James Lowe (56’) and Jack Conan (61’). Scotland’s sole try came thanks to Huw Jones (16’).
Johnny Sexton scored only penalty scored in the match (12’), whilst also scoring both of Ireland’s conversions that day (57’, 62’). Finn Russell scored Scotland’s only conversion in Edinburgh.
Overall, Scotland and Ireland have met on a total of 142 in all competitions, with it being Ireland who have the superior record of 71 wins compared to 66 for Scotland to date. These two nations have drawn against each other just 5 times over the years.
Excitement and anticipation is building ahead of Scotland facing Ireland in their 2025 Guinness Six Nations contest at the famous Murrayfield Stadium, with Scotland looking to dethrone an Ireland team looking for an unprecedented three Six Nations titles in a row.
