Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are once again one of the leading contenders to win the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, and they will be facing newly promoted Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Following relegation from the top flight in the 2022/23 season, Leicester went on to seal an immediate return to the Premier League after a dominant 2023/24 campaign that saw them accumulate no less than 97 points, which saw them seal the EFL Championship title.

Since he succeeded Unai Emery at Arsenal in October 2019, the club has only gone from strength to strength with Arteta in charge. In the last two seasons alone, the Gunners have finished in second place in consecutive campaigns, coming within two points of reigning Champions Manchester City last season.

Silverware has also come Arsenal’s way since Mikel Arteta took charge as Head Coach. Two FA Community Shields have been won, as has a record 14th FA Cup title after beating West London rivals Chelsea 2 – 1 in 2020 thanks to two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang under that iconic arch at Wembley Stadium.

As for Leicester City, following their relegation to the Championship, current Head Coach Enzo Maresca was appointed as Dean Smith’s successor at the King Power Stadium on 16th June 2023. As mentioned earlier, he led his Foxes side to the 2023/24 EFL Championship title to seal an immediate return to the Premier League.

After Maresca’s departure for Chelsea, former Nottingham Forest Head Coach Steve Cooper was appointed as the Foxes’ new Manager on Thursday 20th June 2024. Cooper was at Forest for two years, guiding the club to promotion to the Premier League for the first time in more than 20 years after winning promotion via the EFL Championship Play-Off Final back on 19th May 2022.

Arsenal and Leicester City have gone toe to toe in a competitive fixture on a total of 150 occasions to date, with the Gunners having the superior record of 72 wins compared to the Foxes’ total of 33 as of the time of writing. To date, there have been 45 draws between them.
