The 36th Annual Midlands Sporting Luncheon returns on Wednesday 9th December 2026, with England International and British & Irish Lion Jamie George headlining this year’s rugby-themed Christmas celebration at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.
As one of Eventmasters‘ flagship corporate hospitality events, the Midlands Sporting Luncheon has welcomed some of the biggest names in rugby over the years. The 2026 edition continues that tradition, bringing together an outstanding line-up of rugby personalities and entertainment for an afternoon in the heart of Birmingham.

Jamie George: England Captain, Lions Star and Saracens Legend
Eventmasters is delighted to announce that England International and British & Irish Lion Jamie George will be our Guest of Honour at the 36th Annual Midlands Sporting Luncheon.
One of the most recognisable figures in English rugby, George has enjoyed an outstanding career at both international and club level, establishing himself as one of the country’s most successful hookers.
Having made his England debut in 2015, George has gone on to earn more than 100 international caps, helping his country secure three Six Nations titles, including the Grand Slam in 2016. He also played a major role in England’s journey to the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final and featured during their run to the semi-finals four years later.
George was appointed England captain in 2024, adding another significant achievement to a career that has seen him represent his country for more than a decade.
His international experience also includes three tours with the British & Irish Lions, travelling to New Zealand in 2017, South Africa in 2021 and Australia in 2025. During the 2017 tour, George started all three Tests against the All Blacks as the Lions secured a memorable drawn series.
At club level, George has spent his entire professional career with Saracens, helping the London side win six Premiership titles and three European Champions Cups. Having announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2026/27 season, the experienced hooker is approaching the final chapter of an exceptional playing career.

Former England and British & Irish Lions international Tim Stimpson will once again take on the role of Master of Ceremonies for the 2026 Midlands Sporting Luncheon.
A familiar face at Eventmasters’ annual Christmas celebration, Stimpson brings extensive experience from a successful playing career that included representing England, touring South Africa with the British & Irish Lions in 1997 and winning major honours with Leicester Tigers.
He will guide guests through the afternoon’s entertainment and lead the conversation with Jamie George, providing an opportunity to hear stories from two accomplished figures in English rugby.
Aaron James Confirmed as 2026 After-Dinner Comedian
Eventmasters is also delighted to welcome Aaron James as our after-dinner comedian for the 36th Annual Midlands Sporting Luncheon.
Widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading mainstream comedians, Aaron is an accomplished impressionist, presenter, host and auctioneer, with extensive experience entertaining audiences at major sporting and corporate events.
His career includes hosting three world title boxing events in Las Vegas, including the famous encounter between Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather. He has also shared the stage with boxing personalities Lennox Lewis and Michael Buffer, while providing entertainment at football events involving Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as major UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup occasions.
Beyond football and boxing, Aaron has entertained rugby supporters at Twickenham during Six Nations and Autumn International fixtures, alongside appearances at corporate golf events for major international brands.
His television and radio appearances have included Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast, BBC Radio 2, talkSPORT and BBC Radio 5 Live.
