The Festival begins on Wednesday 5th May 2027 with Boodles May Festival Trials Day, an important early-season meeting for emerging Classic contenders.

Two of the day’s standout races are the Weatherbys Cheshire Oaks, a recognised trial for the Epsom Oaks, and the Boodles Chester Vase, which provides leading three-year-olds with an opportunity to strengthen their credentials ahead of the Epsom Derby.

In 2026, Benvenuto Cellini produced an impressive performance to win the Chester Vase for trainer Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore, pulling clear by four and a quarter lengths.

Boodles May Festival Ladies Day 2027

Thursday 6th May 2027 combines top-class racing with one of Chester Racecourse’s biggest social occasions.

Alongside the action on the track, Ladies Day features Chester’s Best Dressed competition and attracts racegoers looking to combine premium racing with fashion and hospitality.

The 2026 meeting saw Jan Brueghel, trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, win the Group 3 Ormonde Stakes by two and a half lengths from Mount Atlas.

Boodles May Festival Ladbrokes Chester Cup Day 2027

The three-day Festival concludes on Friday 7th May 2027 with Ladbrokes Chester Cup Day.

The Ladbrokes Chester Cup is one of the major staying handicaps in the British Flat racing calendar and the longest race staged at Chester, covering two miles, two furlongs and 140 yards around the Roodee.

In 2026, A Piece Of Heaven won the Chester Cup for trainer Joseph O’Brien and jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle, making effective use of stall one before staying on strongly to claim the feature race.
