Two teams from the English Capital are set to meet in the heart of North London when Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs and Thomas Frank’s Brentford come face to face at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season. This game is crucial for the Lilywhites as they look to secure European Football this year, and a win would see them take one step closer to realising this ambition.

Both clubs are looking to be amongst the teams fighting for European Football this season in what promises to be an enthralling and highly competitive game, whilst the atmosphere itself will be electric for what will be a key fixture for Spurs who will be looking to get the better of the Bees in this match.

Ange Postecoglou succeeded Antonio Conte as Tottenham’s Head Coach on 6th June 2023 following interim spells with Cristian Stellini and former player Ryan Mason. By the end of their 2023/24 campaign, he had led his side to a 5th place finish in the English Top Flight, which saw them qualify for the UEFA Europa League for the following season. They only missed out on the top four and Champions League Football by two points in the end.

Then came the 2024/25 season, which for Spurs was most famous for their incredible triumph in the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final where they were 1 – 0 winners against Manchester United on what was a historic night for the club. It was their Welsh international forward Brennan Johnson who scored the winning goal in the end, finding the back of the Red Devils’ net late on into the first half (42’).

En route to the final, Spurs picked up some memorable results. In the League Phase, the North London outfit got the better of the likes of Hungary’s Fernecvaros (2 – 1), the Netherlands’ AZ Alkmaar (1 – 0), and Germany’s Hoffenheim, who were beaten 3 – 2 away from home.

Then in the Round of 16, the Lilywhites came up against AZ Alkmaar once again, beating the Dutch side 3 – 2 on aggregate in the end to set up a Quarter Final clash against a German outfit in the form of Eintracht Frankfurt who they faced over two legs. In the game for the first leg, it was to be a 1 – 1 draw between these two teams at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before a late penalty kick from Dominic Solanke sealed a 1 – 0 victory in the second leg and a 2 – 1 win on aggregate to seal Spurs’ place in the last four.

In the Semi Final, Tottenham was drawn against Norwegian outfit Bodø/Glimt, with the first leg taking place in the English Capital at the famous Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London. It was a comfortable 3 – 1 win for them which gave Postecoglou’s side a significant two goal advantage heading into the away leg at the Aspmyra Stadion.

In the second leg, it was to be another comfortable and thoroughly deserved victory for Tottenham who were able to beat their opponents 2 – 0 to seal what was an emphatic 5 – 1 victory on aggregate, which did indeed seal their place in the Final, which saw them beat Manchester United 1 – 0.

This victory in the final for Spurs saw them not only celebrate some major silverware, it also saw them qualify for the UEFA Champions League ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Moving on to Brentford, their Danish boss Thomas Frank is amongst the longest serving Head Coaches in the Premier League as a whole. Frank was permanently appointed as the Bees’ manager back on 16th October 2018, when he replaced the outgoing Dean Smith, who had just taken the role of Manager at Aston Villa.

Thomas Frank led his Brentford side to a first-ever promotion in the 2020/21 season to the Premier League following its foundation in 1992. It meant that the London side would be back in the English top flight for the first time since 1947.

This campaign saw them get to the 2021 EFL Championship Play-Off Final, where they took on Swansea City who, following goals from Ivan Toney (10’ – Penalty) and Emiliano Marcondes (20’), sealed what was a crucial and historic 2 – 0 victory. Since this promotion, they have been in the Premier League ever since.

In the 2024/25 season, their most recent top flight campaign, Thomas Frank’s Brentford was amongst the clubs who were fighting for European Football, but unfortunately for the Bees, they fell short in the end by finishing in 10th place. Overall, they earned a total of 56 points from their 38 matches last season.

Tottenham’s most recent competitive encounter against Brentford was in the Premier League away from home at the Gtech Community Stadium. It was to be a 2 – 0 victory In the end, with the goals coming from Pape Matar Sarr (87’) and an own goal from Brentford central midfielder Vitaly Janelt (29’).

This completed a domestic double over these opponents, with Postecoglou and his team having beaten Brentford 3 – 1 a few months earlier at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
