Victory would see the Lilywhites gain a vital three points as they look to secure themselves European Football yet again this term.
The atmosphere for this game promises to be electric with this being yet another crucial game for both teams. As for the game itself, it is set to be an entertaining watch with both sides looking to get the better of their rival. It will be a thrilling occasion for all those in attendance with momentum to be gained for the winner for the matches to come.
Following the conclusion of last season (2024/25), it was officially announced that former Head Coach Ange Postecoglou had departed the club.
This comes after a memorable campaign where the club got their hands on a European trophy, their first since 1984 after beating fellow Premier League side Manchester United 1 – 0 in the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final at the famous San Mames Stadium located in the city of Bilbao in Spain. The winning goal for Tottenham on that day was their Welsh international forward Brennan Johnson, who found the back of the Red Devils’ net at the end of the first half (42’).
This followed a stellar run in the competition for Spurs, which began back in the League Phase, where they were able to beat the likes of Hungary’s Ferencvaros (2 – 1), the Netherlands’ AZ Alkmaar (1 – 0), and as well German club Hoffenheim of the Bundesliga, who Tottenham Hotspur were able to beat 3 – 2 away from home.
They finished in 4th place overall in the League Phase, which saw them earn a grand total of 17 points to gain a place in the Round of 16 automatically. In the first knockout round, the Lilywhites were drawn against Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, who they would be taking on again, this time over two legs, with the winner securing themselves a place in the Quarter Finals.
Overall, AZ was beaten 3 – 2 by Tottenham Hotspur over the two legs, and this meant that they had officially secured themselves a place in the Quarter Finals, where they were drawn against a German Bundesliga Club in the form of Eintracht Frankfurt.
The first leg took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the English Capital and saw Tottenham draw 1 – 1 with Die Adler (The Eagles) thanks to goals from Pedro Porro (26’) and Hugo Ekitike (6’) for their respective clubs in this game.
As for the second leg, the Lilywhites were able to secure a crucial 1 – 0 victory away from home in Germany at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park thanks to a successfully converted spot kick from their English forward Dominic Solanke. It was enough to secure the win on the night, but not only that, this winning goal also sealed a place in the final four for Tottenham Hotspur in what was a 2 – 1 victory on aggregate.
Then came the final four, with Tottenham Hotspur coming face to face with Norwegian outfit Bodø/Glimt, with the first leg of this semi finals tie taking place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the heart of North London, with Tottenham securing what was a comfortable and a thoroughly deserved 3 – 1 triumph. It was a victory that was secured thanks to goals from the likes of Brennan Johnson (1’), James Maddison (34’), and Dominic Solanke (61’ – Penalty).
This was followed up by the second leg which was played in Norway at Bodø/Glimt’s home ground, the Aspmyra Stadion. It was an equally well deserved and another comfortable victory for Tottenham, with Spurs coming away with a 2 – 0 victory away from home following goals from the likes of Dominic Solanke (63’) and Pedro Porro (69’).
It was an emphatic and a commanding 5 – 1 win on aggregate for Tottenham, as they secured themselves a place in the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final, which saw them win 1 – 0 to get their hands on a major trophy, whilst also securing qualification for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
Moving on to West Ham United, their English Head Coach Graham Potter has been in charge since he was unveiled as Julen Lopetegui’s successor at the London Stadium back on 9th January 2025. By the end of the 2024/25 campaign, his Hammers side had ended up with a 14th place finish after having earned a total of 43 points from their 38 top flight matches.
The 2025/26 season will be Graham Potter’s first full campaign in charge of West Ham.
The last time that these two clubs met in the English Top Flight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was back on 19th October 2024 in what was a Premier League game. It was a 4 – 1 victory for Tottenham, who scored thanks to efforts from the likes of Dejan Kulusevski (36’), Yves Bissouma (52’), Son Heung-Min (60’), and as well as an own goal from Hammers Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola (55’).
Overall, Spurs and West Ham United have gone head to head competitively in all competitions on a total of 225 occasions, and it is Tottenham Hotspur who has the superior record of 102 victories compared with West Ham’s 67 in total as of the time of writing. There have also been 56 draws between these two London Clubs so far.
