Legendary rock band Bon Jovi are set to perform at the iconic Wembley Stadium as part of their upcoming Forever Tour, with them set to take London by storm on Friday, 4th September 2026. Founded in 1983, they remain one of the most popular bands in the world.
They have also been inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2018. They sit alongside other legendary names in the world of music, including the likes of Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, The Beatles, and Queen.
On the music streaming platform Spotify, Bon Jovi currently enjoys more than 30.6 million listens per month. ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, released back in 1984, is their most popular track at the moment, with more than 2 million listeners per month on its own, followed by ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’ and ‘It’s My Life’ on more than 1.4 and 1.1 million listens per month.
Founder and frontman Jon Bon Jovi began performing music in 1975 aged 13, performing with Raze, his first band. Then, at 16, he met David Bryan a few years later, forming Atlantic City Expressway. Another band then arrived by 1980, which went by the name of Rest.
The single ‘Runaway’ was released in 1980. Then in 1983, Bon Jovi was finally formed by Jon, alongside Richie Sambora, Tico Torres, Alec John Such, and the aforementioned David Bryan.
They were signed by Derek Shulman, then record executive of Mercury Records, before going on to release their debut album, ‘Bon Jovi’, in 1984. The album included ‘Runaway’, and it managed to reach the top forty in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and it got to 43 in the Billboard 200 chart.
At this point, they were supporting some big name bands in concerts, which included Scorpions and Kiss.
In 1985, Bon Jovi released their second album, named ’7800° Fahrenheit’. Singles included ‘Only Lonely’, ‘In and Out of Love’, ‘The Hardest Part Is The Night’, and ‘Silent Night’, with the album reaching 37 in the Billboard 200 chart, and it has also been certified Gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
After securing the services of songwriter Desmond Child and producer Bruce Fairbairn, they went on to release their third album, ‘Slippery When Wet’ on 16th August 1986. It was so successful that it spent no less than eight weeks at the summit of the Billboard 200 chart.
Two songs that have since gone on to achieve legendary status, ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’ and ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ were both released as part of this third album, with both of these singles reaching the number one spot in the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The album also won them the award for Favourite Rock Group at the People’s Choice Awards, and they got another award, for Favourite Pop/Rock Band at the American Music Awards.
In the years that have followed, a further 13 studio albums, including New Jersey (1988), Keep the Faith (1992), These Days (1995), Crush (2000), Bounce (2002), Have a Nice Day (2005), Lost Highway (2007), The Circle (2009), What About Now (2013), Burning Bridges (2015), This House Is Not For Sale (2016), 2020 (2020), and most recently Forever in 2024.
Over the decades, the band has released a number of other famous records. The rest of the 1980s also saw the release of ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ in 1986, as well as ‘Bad Medicine’, ‘Born To Be My Baby’, and ‘I’ll Be There For You’, all coming out in 1988.
The 1990s saw the release of ‘Bed of Roses’ (1992), ‘Keep The Faith’ (1992), ‘In These Arms’ (1993), ‘Always’ (1994), as well as ‘Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night’ and ‘This Ain’t a Love Song’ – both being released in 1995.
Other big hits have also been released following the 1990s, including ‘It’s My Life’ in 2000, ‘Have a Nice Day’ in 2005, ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’ in 2006, and ‘We Weren’t Born to Follow’ in 2009.
Bon Jovi has won a Grammy Award, which was won for the aforementioned single ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’, which was awarded for the best country collaboration with vocals.
