A rivalry is set to be renewed when England go head to head with Australia in the second One Day International (ODI) at Headingley on Saturday, 21st September 2024. The Three Lions will be looking for victory and to gather momentum going into the final three ODIs.

The first-ever meeting between these two countries came in a Test Match Series that ran from 15th March to 4th April 1877. The winner of the first Test (15th – 19th March) was Australia, who won by a margin of 45 runs. As for the second and final Test of that series (31st March – 4th April), England emerged victorious on this occasion, winning by four wickets. The series ended at 1 – 1.

England and Australia competed in the most recent Ashes series in 2023, where Australia retained the Ashes. However, England were able to come away with their heads held high after levelling the series at 2-2 in the final Test at The Oval.

The first ever One Day International series between these two countries occurred in Australia in 1971. Australia won the first-ever ODI between the rivals, winning 1 – 0.

One of the most memorable ODI moments between England and Australia came back on 10th June 2017, courtesy of Ben Stokes. England were potentially going to lose their final Champions Trophy group match, slipping to 35 for 3 and chasing 280. Stokes then led the way to a change in fortunes for England – he scored 13 fours and two sixes and ended up 102 not out. This was the third and final ODI century of his career.

The most recent occasion in which these two nations faced each other in an ODI series came in November 2022, when Australia won 3-0. England’s most recent ODI victory against Australia was in 2018. The opening ODI saw England win by three wickets before they won the second by 38 runs. This was followed up by a 242-run victory in the third ODI. The fourth and fifth ODIs saw England win by six wickets and one wicket, respectively.

Jos Butler is the current One Day International Captain for England. Eoin Morgan has the record for the most runs for England in an ODI with 6,957 from 7,409 balls from 2009 to 2022. Joe Root comes second with 6,207 runs from 7,140 balls between 2013 and 2022.

Century Box Headingley Cricket Ground

When purchasing your Headingley hospitality tickets, look no further than The Century Box. The Century Box is a one-of-a-kind, private pitch at Headingley Stadium, which faces a 16-person box in the Howard Stand. Make your matchday memorable by inviting your guests with this package including, but not limited to a champagne reception and a complimentary bar that includes beers, wines and soft drinks (available until 15 minutes after the interval).

East Stand Boxes Headingley Cricket Ground

Take advantage of the elevated private pitch in the East Stand Boxes, allowing you to watch all the exciting action from the best seats at Headingley. Up to 12 guests can arrive and enjoy champagne on arrival, a luxurious buffet style lunch with delicious nibbles on offer as well. There will be a full complimentary bar that includes beer, wine and soft drinks will also be available to you and your guests.

Not only that, but you and your guests will be able to enjoy a guest speaker from the cricket world a stunning view from your box, and you will be able to get closer to the action in your category 1 cushioned match seats on your balcony. Car Parking is also included in this VIP Hospitality Package.

Executive Suite Headingley Cricket Ground

Our traditional style experience. You’ll watch the game from an elevated third man position with access to padded balcony seating directly outside the suite. This package includes, but is certainly not limited to a welcome drink on arrival, a 2 course plated meal on offer to you and your guests later on in the day and a buffet breakfast.

The Executive Suite VIP Hospitality Package also offers nibbles at the interval, a guest speaker and a cash bar that will be available for you and your guests to use throughout the day.

Howard Stand Boxes Headingley Cricket Ground

The Howard Stand Boxes is a package that enhances the experience of world-class cricket at Headingley for you and your guests. This box can hold up to 12 guests, and there will not only be a glass of champagne on arrival, there will also be a buffet style lunch, nibbles and a complimentary bar that includes beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

These private boxes also come with a host or hostess for dedicated service, and you will be served a buffet breakfast before the game starts. Your seats will be located downstairs in the middle tier of the Howard Stand, which will come with a access to the Suite’s bar area that will be available to you and your guests throughout the game.

Howard Suite Headingley Cricket Ground

The Howard Suite Package offers you and your guests a stunning view of the pitch, located just behind the bowler on the pitch itself. You can also enjoy a welcome drink on arrival, a pre-match welcome from the room’s host, a street food style buffet pre-match, nibbles and a cash bar that will be available throughout the day.

This suite has a luxury feel, and you and your clients will certainly experience this alongside a fantastic and laid back atmosphere with this package. You can take in the world-class cricket action from the comfort of the padded seating available on the balcony, which is situated just outside of the suite.

The Taverners Suite Headingley Cricket Ground

As a guest of The Taverners Suite you’ll have the choice of watching the action from our stunning garden terrace located directly outside the facility, or from an elevated position behind the bowlers, where padded seats will be available. You will also be able to enjoy a Slingsby cocktail on arrival, street food style buffet pre-match, nibbles and a cash bar that will be available throughout the entire day.

You and your guests will also be able to enjoy the action in atmosphere that is set to be informal and very relaxed indeed. You can enjoy watching some of the best cricket players in the world going head to head with this VIP Hospitality Package.

Presidents Suite Headingley Cricket Ground

The Presidents Suite is a VIP private facility that has a capacity of up to 30 guests, and it boasts a stunning view of the action on the pitch with your padded balcony seating available just outside of your suite in an elevated third man position. It will also include, but not be limited to offering a welcome drink on arrival and a street food style buffer pre-match.

Nibbles will also be available, as will an all-day cash bar. Buffet breakfasts will also be available in what will be a glass fronted dining area.
