A high-profile IT20 contest between England and the West Indies is set to be played at the historic Riverside on Friday 6th June 2025. Excitement is most certainly building, with both of them currently sat in the top five of the ICC’s World Rankings.

As of the time of writing, and with a rating of 253, the West Indies find themselves sat in 4th place at the moment, whilst England are sat a place higher in 3rd place with a rating of 254 as things stand. Only Australia (2nd, Rating: 256) and India (1st, Rating 267) are above them.

The inaugural IT20 to have taken place between these two nations took place back in 2007, which was a 1 – 1 draw. Both games took place at The Oval – the first was won by a margin of 15 runs by the West Indies before England were able to emerge as victorious by 5 wickets in the second.

The most recent IT20 Series between England and the West Indies took place in December 2023, and it was won by the West Indies 3 – 2. They won the first two IT20s by 4 wickets and 10 runs respectively. This was before England won the next two by 7 wickets and 75 runs, only for the West Indies to seal victory with a 4 wicket success in the 5th and final IT20 of the series.

England recorded their most recent IT20 Series against the West Indies back in 2019, with the three games taking place from 5th March to 10th March 2019. England won 3 – 0, winning the first by 4 wickets, before a 137 run victory was then secured in the second IT20. The series was rounded off by England’s third win, this time by a margin of 8 wickets.

Overall, England and the West Indies have faced each other a grand total of 30 times as of the time of writing, and it is the latter with a superior record of 17 victories, compared with the former’s current record of 13 wins so far.
