Everton, led by their Scottish Head Coach David Moyes is set to lead the Toffees in a match against their North London counterparts in their form of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the all-new and modern Hill Dickinson Stadium, which is the new home of Everton Football Club for generations to come during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
During their latest top-flight campaign, the Blues will be targeting a mid-table finish, with the Toffees also looking at the possibility of a top-half finish should they put together a run of results and gather enough momentum over the course of the season. Victory here against the Gunners would most certainly help their case to do so, as three points would see them take an important step closer to realising their ambitions.
This will be the first time that the Toffees will be facing Arsenal in a competitive fixture in all competitions at Everton’s new home, the modern Hill Dickinson Stadium that has a capacity of no less than 52,769 which means that the game promises to bring with it an incredible atmosphere for what promises to be an enthralling game.
David Moyes is the incumbent Head Coach of Everton Football Club and is enjoying his second spell in charge of the Toffees in his career in football management to date. His initial spell in charge of the club spanned more than a decade, from 2002 to 2013, when he decided to leave to become Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Manchester United.
During his original era at the club, there were a great number of memorable players, including Tim Cahill, Wayne Rooney, David Unsworth, Thomas Gravesen, Tim Howard, Yakubu, Steven Pienaar, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, and many more.
It has been no less than 12 years since Moyes ended his first era in the Everton dugout, and following subsequent spells with the likes of Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham United, with the latter of whom he won the 2023 UEFA Conference League title after beating Italian Serie A side Fiorentina 2 – 1.
He decided to return to the Toffees for a second spell on the blue side of Merseyside to succeed Sean Dyche on 11th January 2025. His first few months back in charge saw Moyes take them from relegation trouble to a comfortable and solid 13th place finish after they managed to accumulate 48 points from their 38 top flight matches in the end. The 2025/26 campaign will be Moyes’s first full season back at the helm at Everton since his return to the club.
Throughout their most recent Premier League campaign, Everton were able to beat a number of times across the season, and this included the likes of Newcastle United (0 – 1), Fulham (1 – 3), Nottingham Forest (0 – 1), Leicester City (4 – 0), Spurs (3 – 2), Wolves (4 – 0), and finally Crystal Palace (2 – 1).
Moving on to Arsenal, their Head Coach Mikel Arteta has been in charge of the North London Club ever since he became the permanent successor to Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium back on 20th December 2019 following a short spell in interim charge from former club favourite Freddie Ljungberg.
Arteta has made Arsenal a constant challenger for the title, having been runners-up to either Manchester City or Liverpool in each of the last three seasons, whilst they did advance all the way to the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League semi-finals in a run that included beating Real Madrid. They were defeated over two legs on aggregate by the eventual European Champions, PSG.
The Gunners will be looking to take the next step and to win the Premier League this season, whilst going even further in the 2025/26 edition of the UEFA Champions League.
The most recent competitive game between these two clubs was an encounter in the Premier League on Saturday, 5th April 2025, which ended in a 1–1 stalemate at Goodison Park. This draw came about after Iliman N’Diaye (49’ – Penalty) and Leandro Trossard (34’) scored for their respective clubs on the day.
Overall, Everton and Arsenal have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 225 occasions, and it is the Gunners who currently have the superior record of no less than 112 victories so far in this fixture to date, whilst the Toffees have 65 wins to their name against their North London counterparts so far. There have also been 48 draws between these two clubs so far, as of the time of writing.
