They have also made the Final of the UEFA Europa League on two occasions, in the 2007/08 and 2021/22 seasons. Their first appearance in the final of this highly prestigious competition saw them defeated 2 – 0 by Russia’s Zenit Saint Petersburg, following goals from Igor Denisov (72’) and Konstantin Zyryanov (90+4) at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

Their second and most recent appearance in a UEFA Europa League Final in the 2021/22 campaign saw them lose 5 – 4 on penalties to Eintracht Frankfurt after the game had ended 1 – 1 after extra time at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Seville, Spain.
