Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham Hotspur team are now within touching distance of the Final in the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League competition, with the North London outfit now amongst the final four. The Lilywhites will be going toe to toe with Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt over two legs in the Semi Finals, with the first leg set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday 1st May 2025 in what is going to be an 8pm kick-off.
Victory in the first leg of this tie would see Tottenham have one foot in the Final in what promises to be a difficult tie for this team. Postecoglou’s side will be looking to take a strong aggregate lead going into the second leg of this tie just a week after the first leg is played.
This will be the first competitive meeting between these two clubs to date in all competitions, and Spurs will be looking to come out on top in this historic match between these two teams.
Tottenham are one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, and they will be eyeing qualification for the UEFA Champions League by winning this season’s UEFA Europa League.
As for their Norwegian opponents Bodo/Glimt, the reigning Champions of Norway are currently sat in fifth place in the top flight, called the Eliteserien, just 4 games into the season having their 2025 league campaign having only begun back in late March 2025. They are just two points off the top.
To get to the final four of the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League, Tottenham have had to negotiate their way past some great European teams. The competition began in the League Phase for the Lilywhites, with them finishing comfortably in the top eight to automatically secure themselves qualification for the Round of 16 thanks to a 4th place finish with 17 points having been accumulated from their 8 matches.
Spurs got victories against the likes of Qarabag (3 – 0), Ferencvaros (2 – 1), AZ Alkmaar (1 – 0), Hoffenheim (3 – 2), and Elfsborg (3 – 0).
In the Round of 16, Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham Hotspur team came up against the aforementioned AZ Alkmaar once again, this time in a two legged tie in the Round of 16. Spurs lost the first leg 1 – 0 before goals from Wilson Odobert (26’, 74’) and James Maddison (48’) sealed what was a 3 – 1 victory on the night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for what was a 3 – 2 victory on aggregate in the end for the home side.
Then came German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the Quarter Finals. At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London, the Lilywhites drew 1 – 1 thanks to goals from Pedro Porro (26’) and Hugo Ekitiké (6’) for their respective clubs. Then in the second leg at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt Germany, it was a winning goal from Dominic Solanke via the penalty spot at the end of the first half that handed the English Premier League side the tight 2 – 1 aggregate victory to book themselves a place in the Semi Finals.
Moving on to Bodo/Glimt, they also began their 2024/25 UEFA Europa League Campaign in the League Phase, where they finished agonisingly just outside of the top eight in 9th place after earning 14 points, losing out on automatic qualification for the Round of 16 on goal difference alone to Rangers.
In the League Phase itself, the four time Norwegian Champions got some standout victories against the likes of FC Porto (3 – 2), Braga (2 – 1), Beşiktaş (2 – 1), and Maccabi Tel-Aviv (3 – 1). This then saw play Dutch Club FC Twente over two legs in the Knockout phase play-offs.
In the first leg, Twente won 2 – 1, with Bodo/Glimt winning in emphatic style in the second leg in Norway by securing a comfortable 6 – 4 victory on aggregate after beating FC Twente 5 – 2 after extra time on the night thanks to goals from the likes of Kasper Høgh (56’ – Penalty), Mees Hilgers (90+2’, Own Goal), Brice Wembangomo (90+4’), Sondre Brunstad Fet (111’), as well as another own goal, this time from Twente midfielder Arno Verschueren (114’).
It was Greek Giants Olympiacos who awaited Bodo/Glimt in the Round of 16. In the first leg in Norway, it was to be a 3 – 0 victory thanks to an own goal from the visitors’ 22 year old Greek defender Kostas Tzolakis (13’), as well as goals from the aforementioned Kasper Høgh, who got a brace on that night (45’, 55’).
In the Second Leg in Piraeus, Olympiacos did beat Bodo/Glimt 2 – 1, but this was not enough for them, with their Norwegian opponents going through 4 – 2 on aggregate.
It was Italian Giants Lazio who stood in the way of Bodo/Glimt and the Final Four in the Quarter Finals. In the first leg in Norway, the hosts secured what would go on to be a crucial 2 – 0 victory thanks to some vital goals from midfielder Ulrik Saltnes, who scored both of these important goals (47’, 69’).
It was a 3 – 1 defeat in the second leg for Bodo/Glimt, who would go on to seal their place in the Semi Finals against Tottenham Hotspur thanks to a 3 – 2 win on penalties.
There is no better way to watch this highly anticipated and high stakes 2024/25 UEFA Europa League Semi Finals 1st Leg tie between Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs and Kyetil Knutsen’s Bodo/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium than with an Eventmasters VIP Hospitality Package.
