Graham Potter’s West Ham United side is going to welcome a Chelsea side who are currently led by their Italian Head Coach Enzo Maresca at the iconic London Stadium in the heart of East London in the English Capital during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
If the Hammers can emerge with a victory against their West London counterparts, it would not only be a statement triumph, but it would also see them take an important step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which is to secure a top half place. The team does have the ability to push for European qualification via a top seven finish in the league this season.
The current Head Coach of West Ham United Football Club is Graham Potter, who has been in charge ever since he succeeded Julen Lopetegui at the club, with the ex-Brighton and Chelsea boss’ tenure starting back on Thursday, 9th January 2025.
In his first few months in charge, he guided them away from a relegation battle, with the East London outfit securing a respectable 14th-place finish after accumulating a total of 43 points from their 38 games overall. Therefore, the 2025/26 campaign will be Potter’s first full season in the Hammers’ hot seat.
The 2024/25 season ended on a high for West Ham, with them beating Ipswich Town comfortably 3 – 1 away from home at Portman Road on the final day. Graham Potter’s side were able to score through the likes of James Ward-Prowse (43’), Jarrod Bowen (55’), and Mohammed Kudus (87’). The hosts did score early in the second half through Nathan Broadhead (52’).
Moving on to Chelsea, their Italian Head Coach Enzo Maresca has been in charge since he officially took over from his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino back on Monday, 1st July 2024, just under a month on from confirmation of his appointment on Monday, 3rd June 2024.
The 2024/25 season was his first full campaign in charge of the Blues across all competitions. In the Premier League, they were able to secure a return to the highly coveted UEFA Champions League for the 2025/26 season. They were also able to beat La Liga side Real Betis 4 – 1 in the Final of the UEFA Conference League.
Overall, West Ham United and Chelsea have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 124 occasions, and it is the Blues who currently have the superior record of as many as 57 victories in this fixture compared with the Hammers’ 44 wins so far. There have also been 23 draws to date, as of the time of writing
