West Ham United, who are currently led by their English Head Coach Graham Potter, are going to take on Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side at the iconic London Stadium, which is located in the heart of East London. This game is going to take place between the Hammers and the Cherries during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
If West Ham are indeed able to seal all three crucial points against their South Coast counterparts in this game, then they will be taking a vital step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which are to successfully secure a place in the top half, whilst also potentially looking to push for a European place by season’s end. This would be achieved with a top seven finish in the English Top Flight.
Graham Potter is, of course, the incumbent Head Coach of West Ham United Football Club, and he has been in charge of the East London Club ever since he was named as his Spanish counterpart Julen Lopetegui’s successor back on Thursday 9th January 2025. He had taken this position following extensive experience at various clubs in the past, including Östersunds, Swansea City, Brighton, and Chelsea.
The first months of Potter’s reign in the Hammers dugout saw him tasked with climbing up the table and as far away from the relegation zone as possible, and he most certainly succeeded. He led them to what was a respectable 14th place finish last term after they had been able to earn as many as 43 points from their 38 games in the Premier League in total. There was an 18 point gap between themselves and the drop by the time that their 2024/25 campaign had come to an end.
Last season did indeed end on a high for the Hammers, who, on the final game of the season, were able to get what was an emphatic and well deserved 3 – 1 triumph away from home against hosts Ipswich Town, led by their Head Coach Kieran McKenna at Portman Road. The goals for the visitors had come from the likes of James Ward-Prowse (43’), Jarrod Bowen (55’), and Mohammed Kudus (87’), whereas the only goal that was scored for the Tractor Boys on that day came through their Welsh International forward Nathan Broadhead in the early stages of the second half (52’). He had briefly restored parity in this game with this equaliser, only for West Ham to take the lead again a short time after that.
Moving on to Bournemouth, their Spanish Head Coach Andoni Iraola has been in charge ever since he officially succeeded his predecessor Gary O’Neil, back on Monday 19th June 2023. In his first full campaign in charge (2023/24), he managed to lead them to what was a respectable 12th place finish after they had managed to earn what was a total of 48 points from their 38 games in the end.
Then, last season, Iraola was able to make history in what was his second full season in charge, leading the club in a season that saw them among the challengers for European Qualification ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, only for them to miss out in the end. They ended up with a very respectable 9th place with a points total of no less than 56 – a record for the club in the English top flight so far.
The most recent competitive game between these two clubs took place in the Premier League on Saturday, 5th April 2025, resulting in a competitive and enthralling 2–2 draw at the London Stadium. The likes of Niclas Fullkrug (61’) and Jarrod Bowen (68’) scored two quickfire goals for West Ham in the second half, whilst Evanilson scored both of Bournemouth’s goals that day, with him finding the back of the net either side of half time (38’, 79’).
Overall, West Ham United and Bournemouth have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 22 occasions, and it is the Hammers who do currently have the superior record of 9 victories in this fixture compared with the 4 for the Cherries so far against the Hammers. There have also been 9 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
