West Ham United, who are currently led by their English Head Coach Graham Potter, are set to go head to head with Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton side at the iconic London Stadium, which is located in the heart of East London. This is a game that will take place during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
If the Hammers can get the better of the Seagulls with victory, then the three points that they would of course earn as a result would take them a step closer to realising their ambition to secure a top half finish in the league this season. They could even push for a place in European Football for next season as well, which would be guaranteed with a top seven finish.
Graham Potter is the incumbent Head Coach of West Ham United Football Club, and he has been in charge of the Hammers ever since his appointment was announced by the club back on Thursday 9th January 2025, with the ex-Swansea City, Brighton, and Chelsea boss succeeding his Spanish counterpart Julen Lopetegui in the London Stadium dugout.
The first few months of his tenure saw Potter tasked with the challenge of leading West Ham’s climb up the Premier League table and away from the relegation zone. He was able to do so, guiding his new club to what was a respectable 14th place finish after accumulating a total of 43 points from their 38 games in the end.
On what was the final day of last season, Potter’s West Ham side were able to get the better of Kieran McKenna and his Ipswich Town side away from home at Portman Road. It was a comfortable and well deserved 3 – 1 triumph for the Hammers in the end, who were able to score their goals through the likes of James Ward-Prowse (43’), Jarrod Bowen (55’), and Mohammed Kudus (87’). The only goal for the Tractor Boys on that day was a goal that briefly restored parity in this game that came via their Welsh international forward Nathan Broadhead at the start of the second half (52’).
Moving on to Brighton, their German Head Coach Fabian Hürzeler has been in charge ever since his appointment by the Seagulls was confirmed back on Saturday 15th June 2024, replacing Roberto De Zerbi, who had left the South Coast Club for French Club Marseille.
In his debut season in charge of Brighton, Hürzeler managed to ensure that his club was among those fighting for qualification for European Football. But, in the end, they did end up missing out on a place in the top seven after they had to settle for what was an 8th-place finish in the Premier League, which came after they had earned a total of 61 points. There were only 4 points adrift of European Qualification in the end.
Overall, West Ham United and Brighton have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 63 occasions, and it is the Seagulls who have the superior record of as many as 22 victories in this fixture so far, whilst the Hammers have 19 wins to their name against their South Coast counterparts. There have also been as many as 22 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
