Graham Potter’s West Ham United side are set to welcome a Fulham side, who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach Marco Silva at the iconic London Stadium that is located in the heart of East London during a match that is going to be taking place during the much anticipated 2025/26 Premier League season.
Victory for the Hammers against their West London counterparts would see them able to take what would most certainly be an important step closer to them realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which they will hope will see them secure a spot in the top half, whilst they could also be pushing for a spot in European Football via a place in the top seven ahead of next season.
Graham Potter is currently the Head Coach of West Ham United Football Club, having taken over at the Hammers following spells with a variety of clubs, including the likes of Swansea City, Brighton, and Chelsea. He returned on Thursday 9th January 2025, and he succeeded his Spanish counterpart, Julen Lopetegui, in the London Stadium dugout.
His first few months in charge saw Potter tasked with leading his new side away from danger. They climbed up the table and away from the relegation zone, with the East London Club ending up with a very respectable 14th place finish in the end in the English Top Flight. This came after they had managed to earn a grand total of no less than 43 points from their 38 games.
On the final day of the 2024/25 season, they did manage to end their latest Premier League campaign on a high, after they were able to get the better of Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town side away from home at Portman Road. It was to be a comfortable 3 – 1 triumph for the Hammers, with Graham Potter’s side successfully scoring their goals through the likes of James Ward-Prowse (43’), Jarrod Bowen (55’), and Mohammed Kudus (87’). Meanwhile, it was the Tractor Boys’ Welsh international forward Nathan Broadhead who found the back of the Hammers’ net by scoring in the early stages of the second half to restore parity, albeit briefly in the end (52’).
Moving on to Fulham, their Portuguese Head Coach Marco Silva has been in charge of the West London Club ever since he took over from his English predecessor Scott Parker back on Thursday 1st July 2021.
His first full season at the club was the 2021/22 EFL Championship campaign, where after all 46 games had been played in the English Second Tier, Fulham were able to get promoted automatically whilst also getting their hands on the title after finishing at the summit of the table with no less than 90 points to their name. They also scored an incredible 106 goals across the season, which was unsurprisingly the most of any other club in the division.
Fast forward to last season (2024/25), which was, of course, the most recent full season in charge of the club for Silva, saw him and his team battling for a place in the top seven, where they would secure European Football. However, they ended up missing out on a place in Europe for the 2025/26 season after that had to settle for what was an 11th place after they had earned 54 points – this saw them finish 11 points adrift of Europe in the end.
The last time that these two clubs met in a competitive match in all competitions was in the Premier League back on Tuesday 14th January 2025 at the London Stadium in the heart of East London, and it was West Ham who were able to emerge as 3 – 2 winners against Fulham thanks to the goals of Carlos Soler (31’), Tomas Soucek (33’), and Lucas Paqueta (67’). Meanwhile, it was Alex Iwobi who was at the double for Fulham, scoring a brace in the second half of this match in the English Capital (51’, 78’).
Overall, West Ham United and Fulham have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 111 occasions, and it is the Hammers who currently have the best record in this particular fixture with a grand total of 52 victories compared with the total of 34 wins for the Cottagers so far. There have also been as many as 25 draws between these two clubs to date, as of the time of writing.
