Graham Potter’s West Ham United are set to welcome a Manchester United side who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach Ruben Amorim at the iconic London Stadium, which is located in the heart of East London. This much-anticipated game is going to take place during the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Should West Ham win this game against the Red Devils, they would take a vital step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which are to finish in the top half of the table and potentially push for a European place ahead of next season. This would be achieved by a top seven finish in the English Top Flight.
The current Head Coach of West Ham United Football Club is, of course, the aforementioned Graham Potter. He has been in charge ever since confirmation of his appointment by the club was confirmed officially back on Thursday 9th January 2025. Potter succeeded Spaniard Julen Lopetegui in the West Ham dugout, having previous experience of Premier League management with Brighton and Chelsea.
Potter’s first few months in charge of the Hammers were the final weeks of the 2024/25 Premier League season, aiming to ensure his new club’s safety as well as helping them to climb up the table ahead of the end of that campaign. This is something that he was able to achieve, with an 18 point gap existing between them and the drop after all 38 games had been played. West Ham finished in 14th place with a total of 43 points to their name.
The final day of last season saw the East London club end the campaign on a high after they were able to beat Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town side 3 – 1 away from home at Portman Road in East Anglia. The away side were able to score their goals through the likes of James Ward-Prowse (43’), Jarrod Bowen (55’), and Mohammed Kudus (87’), whilst the only goal that the Tractor Boys were able to score on the day was through their Welsh international forward Nathan Broadhead. He scored the equalising goal for the hosts, which briefly restored parity in this game (52’).
Moving on to Manchester United, their Portuguese Head Coach Ruben Amorim has been in charge ever since his appointment as boss of the Red Devils back on Friday 1st November 2024, taking over from his Dutch predecessor Erik Ten Hag. His tenure began just days later on Monday 11th November 2024.
By the end of the 2024/25 season, United had managed to earn a total of 42 points from their 38 games in all in the Premier League, which was enough for a 15th place finish in the end. They were also defeated 1 – 0 by fellow English side Spurs in the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final thanks to a winning goal from their Welsh international forward Brennan Johnson late on in the first half (42’).
The most recent competitive game to have taken place between these two clubs in all competitions was in the Premier League back on Sunday 11th May 2025 at the famous Old Trafford, which saw West Ham United win 2 – 0 thanks to goals from the likes of Tomas Soucek (26’) and Jarrod Bowen (57’) either side of half time.
Overall, West Ham United and Manchester United have met competitively in all competitions on at least 156 occasions, and it is United who hold the superior record, with 74 wins in this fixture, while West Ham have 50 wins against the Red Devils so far. There have also been as many as 32 draws between these two clubs to date, as of the time of writing.
