Wolves, who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach Vitor Pereira, are set to go head to head with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Victory in this game against their North London counterparts would indeed see the Old Gold take a crucial step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which are to finish midtable, whilst also pushing for a potential spot in the top half of the league table come the end of the season in May 2026.
The aforementioned Vitor Pereira is, of course, the current Head Coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, and he has been in charge of the West Midlands outfit since his appointment back on Thursday 19th December 2024. His appointment saw him replace his English predecessor, Gary O’Neil, in the dugout at Molineux.
Over the course of his opening months of his reign, he was leading the side in their battle against relegation at the back end of last season. In the end, Pereira and his Wolves side were successful in their bid to keep their place in the Premier League, with them finishing in 16th place after having been able to accumulate a total of 42 points from their 38 games in the English Top Flight that term. They ultimately avoided relegation by as many as 17 points in the end.
The 2025/26 Premier League campaign is much anticipated, and it will be Vitor Pereira’s first full season in charge of the Midlands Club.
In his short tenure at the club so far, he has masterminded some memorable results during his time in charge of the Old Gold – one of which was a well deserved 4 – 2 win against Arsenal’s North London rivals Spurs at Molineux towards the end of last season.
The home side were able to score their goals through the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri (2’), Jorgen Strand Larsen (64’), and Matheus Cunha (86’), whilst there was also an own goal from Spurs defender Djed Spence towards the end of the first half, just before the whistle went for half time (38’). The goals for Tottenham Hotspur came from their forwards Mathys Tel (59’) and Richarlison (85’), who got their goals in the second half of this particular game.
Moving on to Arsenal, their Spanish Head Coach Mikel Arteta has been in charge of the Gunners ever since he was named as the permanent successor to fellow Spaniard Unai Emery in the Emirates Stadium dugout. The former midfielder officially took charge of the North London outfit back on Friday 20th December 2019.
They have been transformed into regular title challengers in the Premier League under their incumbent Head Coach, and they have come close on several occasions to ending their long wait for another top flight title, with their last one coming in the invincibles campaign in the 2003/04 season. They will be looking to take the next step this season, having finished as the runners-up to Manchester City and Liverpool respectively over the last three seasons between 2022 and 2025.
Overall, Wolves and Arsenal have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 126 occasions, and it is the Gunners who do so far have the most victories in this fixture, with as many as 66 so far, whereas their West Midlands counterparts have 32 wins against them. There have also been 28 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
