Rob Edwards’ Wolves are set to go toe to toe with Chelsea, who are led by Head Coach Liam Rosenior, at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
If the Old Gold seals a victory, then it would most certainly be a statement triumph for the Midlands Club against their West London counterparts. A win, and the three points it would provide, would also be crucial in their league campaign, as it would take Wolves a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which is to secure a place above the relegation zone, whilst potentially pushing for a place in mid table once this campaign comes to a close in May 2026.
The incumbent Head Coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers was, of course, ex-Old Gold boss Vitor Pereira, who was in charge of Wolves since he was appointed to replace Gary O’Neil permanently on Thursday, 19th December 2024.
Over the first few months of his reign in charge of Wolves, Pereira was initially tasked with avoiding relegation with his new side whilst also climbing as high as possible in the league table itself. In the end, he was able to succeed, with the Midlands side finishing in 16th place after accumulating a total of 42 points from their 38 matches. They had avoided relegation by a margin of as many as 17 points in the end.
The much-anticipated 2025/26 Premier League campaign was going to be Vitor Pereira’s first full season in charge of the Midlands Club, however after a poor start, he was officially dismissed by the club on Sunday 2nd November 2025.
Rob Edwards has since permanently taken charge of the first team to replace the aforementioned Vitor Pereira in the dugout at Molineux. The former Wolves player, first team coach, and interim boss was confirmed as the club’s Head Coach on Wednesday 12th November 2025 after choosing to depart promotion chasers Middlesbrough.
Edwards also had previous spells in senior first team management with the likes of AFC Telford United, Forest Green Rovers, Watford, and Luton Town, who he was able to lead to promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the Hatters’ history back in the 2022/23 season when the club were able to defeat Coventry City 6 – 5 on penalties in the 2023 EFL Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley.
Moving on to Chelsea, their current Head Coach is of course Liam Rosenior, with the Englishman having been in charge of the Blues ever since he took over at Stamford Bridge back on Tuesday 6th January 2026, succeeding his Italian counterpart Enzo Maresca.
Earlier in his managerial career, he took charge of Derby County as their Interim Head Coach before successful, standout spells at the likes of Hull City and most recently Strasbourg of the French top flight before his return to England.
Overall, Wolves and Chelsea have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 121 occasions, and it is the Blues who currently have the superior record in this fixture of as many as 48 wins, whilst the Old Gold had 43 victories of their own against their West London counterparts. There have also been as many as 30 draws between these two sides to date, as of the time of writing.
