Wolves, who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach Vitor Pereira, are set to go toe to toe with Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
If the Old Gold seals a victory, then it would most certainly be a statement triumph for the Midlands Club against their West London counterparts. A win, and the three points it would provide, would also be crucial in their league campaign, as it would take Wolves a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which is to secure a midtable finish whilst potentially pushing for a place in the top half of the table once this campaign comes to a close in May 2026.
The incumbent Head Coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers is, of course, the aforementioned Vitor Pereira, who has been in charge of Wolves since he was appointed to replace Gary O’Neil permanently on Thursday, 19th December 2024.
Over the first few months of his reign in charge of Wolves, Pereira was initially tasked with avoiding relegation with his new side whilst also climbing as high as possible in the league table itself. In the end, he was able to succeed, with the Midlands side finishing in 16th place after accumulating a total of 42 points from their 38 matches. They had avoided relegation by a margin of as many as 17 points in the end.
The much-anticipated 2025/26 Premier League campaign is going to be Vitor Pereira’s first full season in charge of the Midlands Club.
During his time at the club so far, Wolves have secured some sensational results in all competitions, with them winning 4–2 against their North London counterparts, Spurs, in a home game at Molineux. The goals from the home side came from the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri (2’), Jorgen Strand Larsen (64’), and Matheus Cunha (86’), whilst there was also an own goal from Tottenham defender Djed Spence late on in the first half, just before the half time break (38’).
The goal scorers for the Lilywhites were their forward Mathys Tel (59’) and Richarlison (85’), who were both able to score their goals in the second half of this particular game.
Moving on to Chelsea, their Italian Head Coach Enzo Maresca has been in charge of the West London Club ever since he began his tenure as Blues boss back on Monday 1st July 2024, just under a month on from confirmation of his appointment was announced on Monday 3rd June 2024, with him replacing his Argentinian predecessor Mauricio Pochettino in the hotseat at Stamford Bridge.
In the 2024/25 campaign, it was Maresca’s first full season in charge of the club, and it was a very successful one for the club. Firstly, they secured a place in the highly coveted UEFA Champions League ahead of the 2025/26 season, having finished in 4th place and earned a total of 69 points from their 38 games.
In Europe, they were able to go all the way to the final of the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League, which they went on to win after beating their Spanish counterparts, Real Betis, 4 – 1 in the end.
Overall, Wolves and Chelsea have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 119 occasions, and it is the Blues who currently have the superior record in this fixture of as many as 46 wins, whilst the Old Gold had 43 victories of their own against their West London counterparts. There have also been as many as 30 draws between these two sides to date, as of the time of writing.
