Rob Edwards’ Wolves are set to welcome a West Ham United side who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach and former Old Gold Boss Nuno Espirito Santo at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
If the Old Gold are indeed able to get the better of their West London counterparts, then they will as a result be taking a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which are to seal safety in the Premier League, whilst also potentially pushing for a mid table finish come the end of the season in May 2026.
Vitor Pereira is now ex-Head Coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, following his dismissal after a very disappointing start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, which was his first full season in charge. The Portuguese had been in charge ever since he was appointed as Gary O’Neil’s successor in the Molineux dugout back on Thursday 19th December 2024.
The first months in charge of Wolves for Pereira saw him tasked with the challenge of keeping his new club in the top flight. He was able to guide them away from danger and the relegation zone, before guiding them to what was a 16th place finish after his side had ended up with a total of 42 points from their 38 matches in the end. They had avoided the drop by a margin of as many as 17 points overall.
Following the departure of Pereira, his successor Rob Edwards was confirmed as the club’s Head Coach on Wednesday 12th November 2025, having previously had spells at the club as a player (2004 – 2008), first team coach under Kenny Jackett, and a very short spell as interim boss following the departure of Walter Zenga back in August 2016. He left Middlesbrough in order to become Wolves boss.
His previous spells in senior management have come with the likes of AFC Telford, Forest Green Rovers, Watford, and Luton Town. He led the Hatters to an incredible promotion to the Premier League for the first time ever back in the 2022/23 season after having beaten Coventry City in the play-off final at Wembley.
Moving on to West Ham United, their Portuguese Head Coach Nuno Espirito Santo has been in charge of the Hammers ever since his appointment by the club back on Saturday 27th September 2025, with him replacing his English counterpart Graham Potter in the dugout at the iconic London Stadium in East London.
By the end of last season, the Hammers were able to secure what was a very respectable 14th place finish in the end, overall. There was also a gap of as many as 18 points between them and the relegation zone after they had earned 43 points from their 38 games in the English Top Flight.
The most recent competitive game to have taken place between these two clubs in all competitions was in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup back on Tuesday 26th August 2025 at the historic Molineux Stadium, with the hosts Wolves winning the game 3 – 2 thanks to the goals of Rodrigo Gomes (43′), and Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored a brace (82′, 84′). The Hammers got their goals thanks to the likes of Tomas Soucek (50′) and Lucas Paqueta (63′).
Overall, Wolves and West Ham United have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 76 occasions, and it is currently the Hammers who, so far, have the superior record of as many as 36 victories in this fixture, compared with the 26 that their West Midlands counterparts Wolves have accumulated so far. There have also been a total of 14 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
