England will then face South Africa in a Vitality IT20 contest on Friday 12th September 2025.

These two countries are amongst the best in the world in this discipline of cricket, with both of them featuring in the top five in the ICC’s World Rankings. South Africa sit in 5th place with a rating of 251, whilst England are sat two places higher in 3rd place with a rating of no less than 253.

It was in 2007 when England and South Africa met for the very first time in IT20 Cricket, and it was South Africa who won by 19 runs, and they were victorious again two years later in June 2009, this time by a margin of 7 wickets.

England’s inaugural victory was in November 2009 in Johannesburg, by a margin of just one run in what was a historic and incredible contest.

South Africa won the most recent IT20 contest by 7 runs in June 2024, whilst England’s most recent victory taking place on 27th July 2022, when they won by 41 runs.

Overall, England and South Africa have met 26 times in IT20 Cricket, and it is South Africa who have a marginally better record of 13 victories compared with England’s 12.
