NFL London: Jacksonville Jaguars v Buffalo Bills Preview

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set to host the first of two NFL matches on Sunday.

On Sunday 8th October, the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in their second NFL London fixture, with this game set to be the first of two regular season matches to be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With victory in North London, the Bills will remain top of the AFC East whilst the Jaguars could climb the AFC South table with a win.

Both teams have made a solid start to the 2023/24 NFL season. Starting with the Bills, they lost their opening match 22 – 16 against the New York Jets, which was followed by their first win of the new campaign, beating the Oakland Raiders 38 – 10. Two further wins followed, the first being an emphatic 37 – 3 victory against the Washington Commanders before beating the Miami Dolphins 48 – 20 in their most recent NFL match.

As for the Jaguars, they have won two and lost two of their first four matches of the season. They were 31 – 21 winners against the Indianapolis Colts in their opening game, and this result was followed by a 17 – 9 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs. Their third match of the new NFL season saw them lose 37 – 17 against the Houston Texans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars got their second win of the season in the first NFL match to take place in London this season, beating the Atlanta Falcons 23 – 7 under the arch at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

With both teams recording a win in their most recent regular season matches, confidence is set to be high going into this game for both the Jags and the Bills.

Including their first-ever competitive meeting on 28th December 1996, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills have met on 18 occasions as of the time of writing. Neither side has a superior record in this fixture, with 9 victories each to date.

Now, onto the team news. The Jaguars are increasingly likely to be without Devin Lloyd, Elijah Cooks and Antonio Johnson, whilst Parker Washington is also a doubt for the game against the Bills.

Speaking of the Bills, they have no significant injuries to contend with, and they did welcome Damar Hamlin’s return in their most recent match after spending nine months on the sidelines following a cardiac arrest suffered on the field last season. Hamlin is set to be involved in the team’s first match in London this season.

Following the match this weekend, both teams will return stateside. The Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, 15th October, while the Buffalo Bills will take on the New York Giants on Monday, 16th October.

There is one more NFL game set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Tennessee Titans in North London on Sunday 15th October.
