Official Cricket Hospitality Packages at Edgbaston in 2025/26
Edgbaston Cricket Ground, located in Birmingham, has been the home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club since 1885 and is one of England’s premier cricket venues.
🏏 Origins and Early Development
In 1885, Warwickshire County Cricket Club leased a 12-acre plot from the Calthorpe Estate in Edgbaston, an area developed into an exclusive suburb of Birmingham. The club’s secretary, William Ansell, believed Birmingham’s large population and comprehensive railway connections made it preferable for the club’s headquarters. A further £1,250 was spent on draining and enclosing the site and building a wooden pavilion. The first match took place on 7 June 1886 against the MCC, watched by 3,000 spectators over two days. Two months later, in August, over 6,000 spectators watched Warwickshire play Australia.
