England face rivals Wales at Twickenham Stadium in Round Two of the 2024 Guinness Six Nations on Saturday 10^th February 2024.

Steve Borthwick is the current Head Coach for England, after he was appointed to replace Eddie Jones by the RFU (Rugby Football Union) on Monday 19^th December 2022.

During a playing career that spanned almost two decades, Borthwick spent the entirety of his career in Rugby Union as a lock. His youth career was spent at the Preston Grasshoppers before joining Bath in 1998. After 246 appearances for the club, he moved to Saracens in 2008. Borthwick made 144 appearances before deciding to retire in 2014.

Borthwick began his coaching career with Japan in 2012 as their assistant coach, before joining Bristol Rugby as a forwards coach in 2015 where he worked with another ex-Bath player, Andy Robinson.

He did not stay at Bristol Rugby for long, becoming England’s Forwards Coach in the same year. He was in his position when England won their latest Six Nations Championship in 2020. He left his role the same year to become Leicester Tigers Head Coach, before he was officially appointed as England’s Head Coach two years later.

Borthwick is now set to lead England into his second Six Nations Championship as Head Coach.

England are the most successful country in the history of the Six Nations, with 7 wins. After winning the inaugural Six Nations in 2000, England have gone on to win the Championship in 2001, 2003, 2011, 2016, 2017 and 2020.

The two nations have met 139 times, including their first meeting in 1881. Historically, England have the superior record with 67 wins compared to 60 for Wales. There have only been 12 draws.
