The two nations met for the first time at Lord’s in the first of 5 matches as part of a test series in 1954. They will now meet once again 70 years after their maiden meeting to contest the second IT20 at Edgbaston in 2024.

The most recent meeting between these two countries occurred in a test series from 1st to 21st December 2022. It was emphatic from England, who won the series 3-0. The Three Lions won the first test by 74 runs before emerging victorious in the second test at the Multan Cricket Stadium by a margin of 26 runs. The final test was an 8-wicket victory for England.

England and Pakistan have met on 29 occasions in IT20 cricket as of the time of writing, and England has a superior record of 18 wins compared to 9 for Pakistan.

Who could forget the second test between these two nations at Lord’s back in 1978? It was a spectacular day for England and for Sir Ian Botham, in particular, was in sensational form. He scored 134 runs to bring his team’s total to 364. On the penultimate day of the second test, Botham became the first man to score more than one hundred runs and take eight wickets in just a single innings of a test match.
