Arsenal, led by their Spanish Head Coach Mikel Arteta, are going to be taking on Fabian Hürzeler and his Brighton side at the Emirates Stadium in the Fourth Round of the 2025/26 Carabao Cup. This all-Premier League tie is set to be played in the heart of North London on the evening of Wednesday, 29th October 2025, with a 19:45 kick-off.

The Gunners are seeking to win this particular competition for a third time in their illustrious history. Their first triumph came in 1987, when a brace from Charlie Nicholas (30’, 83’) secured what was a 2 – 1 victory against Liverpool at Wembley. This was followed by their second and most recent triumph in the League Cup, which also took place at Wembley, this time back in 1993, where they were 2 – 1 winners again, this time against Sheffield Wednesday, with the goals on this occasion being scored by Paul Merson (20’) and Steve Morrow (68’).

In this season’s competition, Arsenal entered at the third round stage, where they came up against EFL League One outfit Port Vale at Vale Park, where Arteta and his side were able to come away as comfortable 2 – 0 winners in the end thanks to the goals of summer signing Eberechi Eze (8’) and Belgian international forward Leandro Trossard (86’).

Moving on to Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton, they have never won this famous trophy. The closest they came was in the 1978/79 season when they reached the quarter finals. That year, they were knocked out in a 3–1 defeat by Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest.

The Seagulls entered this season’s Carabao Cup at the second round stage. They faced Championship side Oxford United away at the Kassam Stadium. Brighton secured an emphatic 6–0 win, with goals from Olivier Boscagli (13’), Brajan Gruda (20’), Diego Gomez (60’), Stefanos Tzimas (71’, 77’), and Tom Watson (86’).

They then came up against League One’s Barnsley in the third round, which was also an emphatic 6 – 0 win away from home, this time at Oakwell. The goal scorers on this occasion were Diego Gomez (9’, 21’, 33’, 68’), Harry Howell (87’), and Yasin Ayari (89’).

Arsenal and Brighton have only faced each other three times in this competition. The Gunners’ last win in the League Cup against the Seagulls took place in a fourth round replay at Highbury back on Tuesday, 13th November 1979. It was a 4 – 0 triumph thanks to the goals of Frank Stapleton (2) and Paul Vaessen (2).

All eyes will be on who will be victorious in this Fourth Round tie in the 2025/26 Carabao Cup at the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners looking to win some more silverware this season.
