West Ham United, who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach Nuno Espirito Santo, are going to be taking on Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side in what is to be a much-anticipated and hard-fought Quarter Final tie of the 2025/26 FA Cup in April 2026 at the iconic London Stadium in the heart of East London.
The Hammers will hope to come away victorious and reach their first FA Cup semi-final at Wembley since the 2005/06 season, when they reached the Final, where they faced Liverpool. It would be a step closer to reaching that highly coveted final for the first time in 20 years.
So far, as of the time of writing, West Ham have won the FA Cup on a grand total of three occasions, last doing so back in the 1979/80 season when, at Wembley, they were able to beat Arsenal 1 – 0 thanks to a winning goal from Hammers club legend Trevor Brooking in the early stages of the first half in this game in the heart of the English Capital (13’).
West Ham’s previous two FA Cup Final wins came back in the 1963/64 and 1974/75 seasons. In these Finals, they were 3–2 winners against Preston North End in the former and 2–0 winners against fellow London side Fulham in the latter.
The Hammers’ journey in the FA Cup this season began back in the Third Round, when they came up against London rivals Queens Park Rangers at the London Stadium, where they won 2 – 1 after extra time, thanks to goals from the likes of Crysencio Summerville (45+10’) and January signing Valentin Castellanos (98’). QPR scored their only goal through forward Richard Kone midway through the second half (65’).
Then, in the Fourth Round, Nuno’s West Ham were drawn to go up against League One outfit Burton Albion away from home at the Brewers’ Pirelli Stadium. West Ham, who went down to ten men after academy product Freddie Potts was sent off (101’), still won 1 – 0 thanks to a winning goal from their Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville, who had scored just a few minutes before the aforementioned red card for Potts in extra time (95’).
Round Five saw West Ham come up against another London-based side, Brentford, whom they beat 5–3 on penalties after drawing 2–2 against another Premier League side, led by Head Coach Keith Andrews. The Hammers scored through a brace from Jarrod Bowen (19’, 34’ – Penalty), whilst the Bees also got their goals through a brace, which was from their Brazilian forward Igor Thiago in both halves (28’, 81’ – Penalty).
As for Leeds United, Daniel Farke’s team are currently one-time winners of the FA Cup, having done so back in the 1971/72 season under their legendary manager Don Revie. It was a game that saw them beat Bertie Mee’s Arsenal 1 – 0 thanks to the winning goal that came from forward Allan Clarke in the early stages of the second half (53’).
Leeds began their journey in the 2025/26 FA Cup in the Third Round in a tie against Derby County at Pride Park, where they were able to win 3 – 1, thanks to the goals of Wilfried Gnonto (55’), Ao Tanaka (59’), and James Justin (90+3’). They had initially fallen behind midway through the first half against the Rams following a goal from Chilean international forward Ben Brereton Diaz (35’).
Then, in Round Four, Daniel Farke’s side came up against another Championship side, this time in the form of Chris Davies’ Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s. It was a 1 – 1 draw initially after extra time, following goals from Lukas Nmecha (49’) and Patrick Roberts (89’) for Leeds and Birmingham, respectively. Leeds won 4 – 2 on penalties in the end.
Then, in their most recent FA Cup tie in Round Five, Daniel Farke’s Leeds United came face to face with Championship outfit Norwich City, led by Head Coach Philippe Clement, at their famous Elland Road home. It was a comfortable and thoroughly deserved 3 – 0 victory, thanks to the goals of Sean Longstaff (32’), Gabriel Gudmundsson (43’), and Joel Piroe (85’) in both halves.
The last time that West Ham and Leeds faced each other in an FA Cup tie was back in the third round of the 2021/22 competition, where the Hammers were comfortable and deserved 2 – 0 winners at the London Stadium thanks to the goals of Manuel Lanzini (34’) and Jarrod Bowen (90’), then under the stewardship of former Head Coach David Moyes.
All eyes will be on who will be victorious in this quarter-final tie in the 2025/26 FA Cup at the aforementioned London Stadium, with the Hammers looking to win some silverware this season.
