Reigning Premier League Champions Liverpool, led by their Dutch Head Coach Arne Slot, are set to be the visitors to the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium, the home of Vitor Pereira’s Wolves, during the 2025/26 league season.
A win in this game against the Reds would be a statement result for the Old Gold, whilst it would also see them take a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which is to finish midtable, whilst also potentially pushing for a place in the top half of the league table come the end of the season in May 2026.
It is indeed the aforementioned Vitor Pereira who is the current Head Coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, and he has been in charge ever since his appointment to replace Gary O’Neil in the Molineux dugout back on Thursday 19th December 2024.
During his first few months as Wolves boss, which were towards the end of last season, Pereira was tasked with guiding the club away from the relegation zone and to then confirm their status as a top flight team by the time that the 2024/25 season concluded. He was able to do so, with the Old Gold able to finish in 16th place after accumulating a total of 42 points from their 38 games – this saw them avoid relegation by as many as 17 points in the end.
The much anticipated 2025/26 Premier League campaign is going to be Vitor Pereira’s first full season in charge of the Midlands club.
Over the course of his short tenure at the club so far, Pereira has been in charge of some fantastic victories as Wolves boss, one of which was a 4 – 2 triumph against their North London counterparts Spurs late last season in a home game at the historic Molineux Stadium.
For the home side, their goals came through the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri (2’), Jorgen Strand Larsen (64’), and Matheus Cunha (86’), whilst there was also an own goal from Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence towards the end of the first half, and just before the half time break (38’). The away side, Tottenham, scored their two goals through their forwards Mathys Tel (59’) and Richarlison (85’), scoring in the second half of this particular game.
Moving on to Liverpool, their Dutch Head Coach Arne Slot has been in charge ever since his tenure began back on Saturday 1st June 2024, which came mere days after his appointment to replace his legendary predecessor Jurgen Klopp was announced by the Merseyside club on Monday 20th May 2024.
In what was his first season at the helm, Slot led his Liverpool side in what turned out to be an incredible season for all associated with the Reds. They would go on to win the Premier League title for the second time in their history since its foundation in 1992. They ended up with a points total that stood at 84, which was no less than 10 more than their nearest rivals and runners-up, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
This was also a record equalling 20th top flight title of all time won by the club, with them now holding the record with their North West rivals Manchester United. Therefore, the club from the red side of Merseyside will be looking to make history with a 21st top flight title come the end of this season.
Overall, Wolves and Liverpool have met competitively in all competitions on at least 118 occasions, and it is the Reds who currently hold the superior record, with as many as 63 victories in this fixture, compared to their Midlands counterparts’ total of 37 wins against Liverpool. There have also been 18 draws in total between these two clubs to date, as of the time of writing.
