Wolves, who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach Vitor Pereira, are set to come face to face with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
A win here for Wolverhampton Wanderers against City would most certainly be a statement victory that would generate plenty of positivity going into the next few games of the season. They would also be taking a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which are to secure a midtable finish while also potentially pushing for a spot in the top half by the end of the season.
The aforementioned Vitor Pereira is the current Head Coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, and he has been in charge ever since the Portuguese boss was appointed back on Thursday 19th December 2024.
He was tasked with leading the club to safety and for them to climb further up the table. Pereira was successful in doing so, with his new side finishing the 2024/25 top flight campaign in 16th place on 42 points in total. In the end, they were able to avoid the drop by a margin of at least 17 points. The 2025/26 campaign will be the Portuguese’s first full season in charge of Wolves.
Wolves secured some standout victories towards the end of last season under Pereira, one of which was a comfortable and deserved 4 – 2 triumph against Spurs at Molineux in mid-April 2025. The goals for the hosts came from the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri (2’), Jorgen Strand Larsen (64’), and Matheus Cunha (86’), whilst there was also an own goal from Tottenham defender Djed Spence in the latter stages of the first half (38’).
The two goals for the visitors came from the likes of Mathys Tel (59’) and Richarlison (85’), who were both able to score in the second half.
Moving on to Manchester City, their Spanish Head Coach Pep Guardiola has been in charge of the Cityzens ever since his tenure officially began ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season. His appointment was announced back on Monday 1st February 2016, with him succeeding Manuel Pellegrini, who led the club for what was the remainder of the 2015/16 season.
Over the course of his hugely successful time at the club so far, Guardiola has won a vast number of trophies with City. This includes 6 Premier League titles (2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21, 2021/22/ 2022/23 & 2023/24), 2 FA Cups (2018/19 & 2022/23), 4 Carabao Cup titles (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20 & 2020/21), 3 FA Community Shield titles (2018, 2019 & 2024), 1 UEFA Champions League title (2022/23), 1 UEFA Super Cup title (2023), and finally 1 FIFA Club World Cup (2023).
Overall, Wolves and Manchester City have met competitively in all competitions on at least 132 occasions, and it is the Cityzens who currently hold the superior record, with 57 victories to date, while Wolves have achieved 50 wins against these opponents. There have also been 25 draws so far between these two clubs as of the time of writing.
