Vitor Pereira’s Wolves are set to go toe to toe with a Manchester United side, who are currently led by their Portuguese Head Coach Ruben Amorim, at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Suppose the Old Gold do indeed end up getting the better of the Red Devils. In that case, they will be taking a step closer to realising their ambition for the current campaign, which is to secure a mid-table finish whilst also potentially pushing for a spot in the top half of the table by the time that the season comes to a close in May 2026.
The aforementioned Vitor Pereira is, of course, the incumbent Head Coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers. He has been in charge ever since he was confirmed as the club’s appointment to replace his predecessor, Gary O’Neil, with Pereira’s tenure getting underway on Thursday, 19th December 2024.
During his first months in charge at the back end of the 2024/25 campaign, the Portuguese managed to prevent his team from suffering relegation, guiding them up the table before ending up with a 16th place finish. They had a total of 42 points to their name once all 38 matches had been played, with them also no less than 17 points above the relegation zone by season’s end.
The 2025/26 Premier League campaign will be Vitor Pereira’s first full season in charge of Wolves since he officially took charge at the end of 2024.
Throughout his time with Wolves so far, Pereira has guided his team to secure several memorable results, one of which was a 4–2 victory against their North London counterparts, Tottenham Hotspur, at Molineux on Sunday, 13th April 2025. The goal scorers in this game for the hosts were Rayan Ait-Nouri (2’), Jorgen Strand Larsen (64’), and Matheus Cunha (86’), whilst there was also an own goal by Spurs defender Djed Spence (38’) towards the end of the first half.
The players who were able to find the back of the net for Tottenham Hotspur that day were their forwards Mathys Tel (59’) and Richarlison (85’) in the second half.
Moving on to Manchester United, their Portuguese Head Coach, Ruben Amorim, has been in charge ever since he was appointed Red Devils boss as Erik Ten Hag’s successor back on Friday 1st November 2024, although he officially took charge just days later on Monday 11th November 2024.
The much anticipated 2025/26 campaign will be his first full season. And, by the end of the 2024/25 Premier League season, they ended up accumulating a total of 42 points from all 38 matches in the English Top Flight. It was enough for a 15th place in the end, just above Wolves. In Europe, they were defeated 1 – 0 in the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final in Bilbao, Spain, by fellow Premier League side Spurs, thanks to a goal near the end of the first half by Wales international Brennan Johnson (42’).
The most recent competitive game between these two clubs took place in the Premier League on Sunday, 20th April 2025, at Old Trafford. This was a game that saw Wolves win 1 – 0 at the Theatre of Dreams thanks to a goal that turned out to be the winner from Pablo Sarabia in the latter stages of the second half (77’).
They had completed the domestic double against United, after having also beaten the Red Devils earlier in the same season at Molineux. The Old Gold were able to come away as deserved 2 – 0 winners thanks to goals from the likes of Matheus Cunha (58’) and Hwang Hee-Chan in the second half (90+9’). This game took place back on Thursday 26th December 2024.
Overall, Wolves and Manchester United have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 115 occasions, and it is currently the Red Devils who have the superior record of as many as 56 victories in this fixture so far, as of the time of writing, whilst Wolves have 39 wins against United so far. There have also been 20 draws between these two clubs.
