Wolves, led by their Portuguese Head Coach Vitor Pereira, are set to take on Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest side at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Suppose Wolves can get the better of the side led by their former boss and fan favourite. In that case, they will be able to take a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which is to secure a mid table position in the league, whilst they could also go ahead and push for a top half finish instead in the Premier League by the time that this season comes to an end in May 2026.
The incumbent Head Coach of the historic Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club is, of course, the aforementioned Vitor Pereira, who has been in charge ever since he was appointed as boss of the Old Gold back on Thursday, 19th December 2024. He has succeeded Gary O’Neil in the Molineux dugout.
Over his first few months in charge towards the end of last season (2024/25), Pereira managed to help his side avoid relegation before climbing up the table, where they ended up settling for what was a 16th-place finish in the end. This came after they had managed to secure 42 points from their 38 games in all in the English Top Flight. There was, in the end, a gap of as many as 17 points between themselves and the relegation zone overall.
The 2025/26 Premier League season will be the first full campaign for Wolves under the stewardship of their Portuguese Head Coach, Vitor Pereira.
During his time with the Midlands club so far, Pereira has secured Wolves some memorable results, including a notable 4–2 victory against Spurs at Molineux. This victory against their North London counterparts saw them score their goals through the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri (2’), Jorgen Strand Larsen (64’), and Matheus Cunha (86’), whilst there was also an own goal from Spurs defender Djed Spence towards the end of the first half (38’).
The goal scorers for Spurs in this game were their forwards Mathys Tel (59’) and Richarlison (85’), who both scored their goals in the second half.
Moving on to Nottingham Forest, their Portuguese Head Coach, formerly of Wolves, has been in charge of the East Midlands Club ever since he took charge back on Wednesday, 20th December 2023, when he succeeded Steve Cooper at the City Ground.
By the time the 2023/24 campaign had come to a close, he had successfully guided Forest to safety in 17th place with 32 points. The gap between themselves and the relegation zone stood at 6 points in total, in the end.
Then came the 2024/25 Premier League season, which saw them emerge as the surprise package, having gone from a tough battle for survival the previous season to being among the clubs fighting for a UEFA Champions League Spot ahead of the 2025/26 season via a top-five finish. In the end, they went on to finish in 7th place, which secured them European Qualification. They ended up with a gap of just a point between themselves and the Champions League spots.
Overall, Wolves and Nottingham Forest have met competitively in all competitions on at least 139 occasions. Currently, the Old Gold have the superior record, with 63 victories in this fixture, compared to Forest’s 46. There have also been 30 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
