Wolves are set to take on Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest side at the iconic and historic Molineux Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Suppose Wolves can get the better of of Forest, in that case, they will be able to take a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current campaign, which is to avoid relegation, though they could also go ahead and push for a potential mid table finish instead in the Premier League by the time that this season comes to an end in May 2026.
The now former Head Coach of the historic Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club was Vitor Pereira, had been in charge ever since he was appointed as boss of the Old Gold back on Thursday, 19th December 2024. He succeeded Gary O’Neil in the Molineux dugout.
Over his first few months in charge towards the end of last season (2024/25), Pereira managed to help his side avoid relegation before climbing up the table, where they ended up settling for what was a 16th-place finish in the end. This came after they had managed to secure 42 points from their 38 games in all in the English Top Flight. There was, in the end, a gap of as many as 17 points between themselves and the relegation zone overall.
The 2025/26 Premier League season was the first full campaign for Wolves under the stewardship of Pereira, but after going winless in their first ten games, he was dismissed. Before a permanent successor is officially appointed, Under 21s Head Coach James Collins and Under 18s Head Coach Richard Walker are in temporary charge of the first team.
Moving on to Nottingham Forest, they are currently led by their English Head Coach Sean Dyche. Their former Head Coach Ange Postecoglou had been in charge of the East Midlands Club ever since he took charge back on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, when he succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground.
In the 2024/25 Premier League season, they were a surprise package, going from a tough battle for survival the previous season to being among the clubs fighting for a UEFA Champions League spot ahead of the 2025/26 season via a top-five finish. In the end, they went on to finish in 7th place, which secured them European Qualification. They ended up with a gap of just a point between themselves and the Champions League spots.
Overall, Wolves and Nottingham Forest have met competitively in all competitions on at least 139 occasions. Currently, the Old Gold have the superior record, with 63 victories in this fixture, compared to Forest’s 46. There have also been 30 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
