Joe Cordina Agrees Terms for Manny Pacquiao Fight on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Undercard
Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao could make his first professional appearance in Britain this December, with former world champion Joe Cordina agreeing terms to face the Filipino on the undercard of Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua.
The potential contest would take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Friday 11th December 2026, where Fury and Joshua are scheduled to meet in their long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Cordina’s representatives have accepted the proposed terms, although the fight has not yet been finalised.
“We’ve agreed terms to face Pacquiao, but we don’t know if it’s happening,” Hearn explained on Thursday.
Should an agreement be reached, the contest would bring together one of boxing’s most successful fighters and a former Welsh world champion competing in his home city.
Manny Pacquiao Could Make Historic UK Debut
Pacquiao, 47, remains one of the most recognisable names in boxing, having won world titles across eight different weight divisions during a professional career spanning more than three decades.
The Filipino has recorded 62 victories in 73 professional contests and last appeared in July 2025, when he returned from retirement to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title. That contest ended in a majority draw.
Despite facing some of the sport’s biggest names, including Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton, Pacquiao has never fought professionally in the United Kingdom.
His proposed meeting with Cordina would also be his first against a British opponent since his second-round knockout victory over Hatton in Las Vegas in 2009.
Joe Cordina Targets Major Fight in Cardiff
For Cardiff-born Cordina, the opportunity to face Pacquiao would represent another major occasion in a career that has already included two reigns as IBF super-featherweight world champion.
The 34-year-old famously regained his world title on home soil in April 2023, defeating Shavkat Rakhimov at the Cardiff International Arena.
Cordina subsequently lost the championship to Anthony Cacace in May 2024, on the undercard of Fury’s first meeting with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.
His most recent appearance came against Gabriel Flores in December 2025, when he secured a unanimous decision victory.
Cordina had been scheduled to challenge Abdullah Mason for the WBO lightweight championship in July 2026, but that opportunity fell through after he was denied a US visa. He has since been cleared of assault charges following a trial in Cardiff.
A proposed welterweight meeting with Pacquiao would see Cordina step up in weight to face an opponent with significantly greater experience, although the Welshman’s technical ability and home support would add interest to the contest.
Fury vs Joshua Undercard Could Feature Another Major Name
The possibility of Pacquiao appearing on the undercard adds another talking point to the build-up towards Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua.
The two former heavyweight world champions are set to meet professionally for the first time at the Principality Stadium on Friday 11th December, ending years of unsuccessful negotiations.
The headline fight is expected to feature ringwalks at approximately 1am on Saturday 12th December, with the event broadcast globally on Netflix.
Although Pacquiao against Cordina remains unconfirmed, its inclusion would add a second major international contest to an already highly anticipated evening of boxing.
