The tournament will run through the festive period before taking its traditional Christmas break from December 24 to 27. Action will then resume ahead of the conclusion on Sunday January 3, meaning the championship will continue beyond New Year’s Eve.
Luke Littler bidding for World Championship hat-trick
Attention will once again turn to Luke Littler as the teenager attempts to win the World Championship for a third consecutive time.
Littler defeated Gian van Veen in a one-sided final in January to retain his crown and has enjoyed another remarkable year in 2026.
The 19-year-old has already added the World Masters, UK Open, World Cup, World Matchplay and Premier League titles to his collection, and will head back to Alexandra Palace aiming to continue his extraordinary run.
His World Championship record currently stands at 18 wins from 19 matches.
With the tournament moving into the Great Hall for the first time, the 2026/27 World Championship promises to provide a new setting for Littler’s latest bid for history.
