Unbeaten Heavyweight Moses Itauma To Face Filip Hrgović At The O2
Rising heavyweight star Moses Itauma will take the biggest risk of his unbeaten career so far in a fight against Filip Hrgovic this summer.
It has been reported that the pair will clash on 29th August at the O2 Arena in London. The bout is set to be officially announced in the next couple of days.
A press conference is expected to take place early next week.
The 21-year-old sensation last fought in March, when he put on an absolute clinic against America’s Jermaine Franklin. Itauma’s fifth-round knockout blasted him into world championship contention, with many expecting him to dominate the division when Oleksandr Usyk hangs up his gloves.
A clash against Croatia’s Filip Hrgovic is, however, a huge step-up in competition, with the Zagreb native ranked ninth in the heavyweight rankings.
His sole defeat came against heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois over two years ago.
Itauma has had an impressive start to his professional career and remains unbeaten in 14 contests, producing victories over the likes of Mariusz Wach, Demsey McKean and Dillian Whyte since his debut in January of 2023.
Hrgovic, 34, beat Dave Allen inside three rounds last time out in May.
Speaking after that victory over Allen, Hrgovic said, “Moses never reached the promised land.
“I want to fight with anyone in the division, Moses, anyone.
“If I’m healthy – and I look like I am – no problem for me. I never run from any opponent.”
There has also been speculation that Itauma could fight WBO champion Dubois in the near future should Dubois win his rematch against Fabio Wardley.
